Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here) Hi. I'm new here to salehoo and Had a question. I originally planned on looking for a dropshipper, but have decided to buy liquidations instead. My question is as a newcomer to the industry what would be the best venue for me to start selling. I had planned on using ebay however after spending some time reading posts on these forums I'm unsure if that would be the best place for me to start. I'm not at a point where I can afford to lose money. If I lose I'm done. I would appreciate the opinion of someone outside my situation. Thanks.
Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here) Just to advise you I am in the liquidation Business. And we do very well on places like ebay. But If your going into liquidations you need to be able to buy pallets. My companay is the only company that offers samples. But I will tell you or anyone straightforward. There is higher risk when buying small in this business. Generally your best stuff is found on a pallet. Your higher quality items are generally your larger items and they tend to bring you more money then many smaller items.
If your in the position where you cannot afford to loose money at all. Then working online is something you may want to reconsider. All ventures have risks associated with loss. Liquidations is the best way to profit because your buying products at such a low percentage of their retail value. A wholesale item is generally about 85% to 95% of the retail value of a item. Liquidated items are generally 7% to 15% of the retail value of the item. That is a massive difference when you consider the cost of purchase for wholesale. But liquidated merchandise comes in mostly Customer return form so you have variated conditions. You can have items that are perfect but missing manuals to items that are damaged. And each purchase you make is different. You may have one pallet that you can make $2000 in profits and another that you actually loose a few hundred on. So in order to profit from this industry you have to take a risk. It generally pays off. But what if your new to ebay and have no solid feedback to boost your reputation. If you don't your items may sell for much less because no bidder wants to trust you yet. So it is possible for you to loose money on your first purchases. Anyways contemplate on what I have said before making any decisions. Jimmy

Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here) Hello ,
My name is Rick and I'm a new member on Salehoo, with all due respect I found a pair of Gucci sunglasses model # 2712 at a "wholesale" price of $141.85...then I went to EBay and found the same glasses at a "Buy Now" price of $99.44...is it possible the so-called "wholesaler" was a MIDDLEMAN that snuck in as a wholesaler??? ...would like some feedback Thank you, RICK
Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here)
More than possible Rick, you will find that a lot so it does pay to do your research as you have done. Of course another possibility is that you were looking at fakes on ebay, but you are not really going to find a wholesaler anywhere, genuine or not, or will be able to provide you a price that will allow you to compete on ebay. You have to remember that ebay is already set at wholesale price, because wholesalers already use the market place to onsell their merchandise, so wholesale as a general rule just won't cut it on ebay. You're only chance is to by in the same sort of quantities as the wholesalers are, and then compete against them. Either that, or find yourself a below wholesale sourcing price. Tuff market mate, but good luck.

What Microsoft application are you using to try and manipulate the image?
Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here)
What sort of stock are you looking for, and what sort of volume do you intend on buying in?
Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here) What sort of stock are you looking for, and what sort of volume do you intend on buying in?
hi fudjj. thanks for your reply. i basically have the funds to purchase in large quantities and perhaps the sheer stupidity also lol (i believe that succeeding in business requires a calcualted risk). im not sure what i want to purchase, im up for ideas. i dabble in another business off the internet and now looking for something else to do, and selling on the internet is something that came to mind. do you think you could help??? cheers carmelina
Re: Welcome to Salehoo ( New members Click Here) Hi Carmelina,
Always happy to help where I can, but you sound pretty switched on to me. Any business has a degree of risk attached to it, and the more you invest, the bigger the risk...however that risk is always balanced by the potential reward of course. Not really sure what to suggest as far a products go, maybe some other members would have a better idea, but if you have the capitol behind you, then you are in a better position than a lot of members here who are trying to crack a very competitive market with a budget somewhat less than a shoe string. I would suggest looking at products that you have an interest in, that would mean that you would have product knowledge base that you can build on. You're already in business, so you will already have the business basics down , and it's easy to see you understand the market well by your volume purchasing plan. Seems to me that you just need to research some products, then find the supplier. My advice about sourcing products here in Australia, forget the online directory here, and anywhere else for that matter. Online business business is growing, but it still makes up only a minor percentage of the total business done around the world everyday. Hit some new year trade shows if you can, there you can get in on the latest products, and make some good solid contacts. The Yellow Pages is an excellent source for finding product leads, and never be shy to ask retailers who their supplier is, for everyone that won't tell you, two will. Another tip, never accept the first wholesale price you are given. Once they see the colour of your cash that first price can change dramatically. Good luck with it, and welcome to the site.
