Godaddy - does anyone have any experience using them for hosting or a site?

    Hey guys

Does anyone have any experience with godaddy and using them for hosting or a site?

I think i want to go with them for my stand alone store front. I going to use the quick shopping cart site builder. Its a point and click site builder basically.

I like how they dont charge sale commissions. Just a monthly fee for the store and any addons you pick some are annual fees. Im going month to month on the site.

I just would like to hear from anyone who has experience using godaddy and there services. Any addon suggestions would be appreciated as well.

Other then studying up on what site to get. I have secured enough vendors some drops shippers some wholesalers to get it going and have nice variety of products.

    Thanks for the help

I've used Godaddy for domain registration, hosting and email accounts, and still do. No issues with them at all, excellent value for money service all round and top shelf customer service has always been my experience with them.

I totally agree with Marc. A lot of people in the SaleHoo office use GoDaddy hosting and it's definitely one of the best out there for value and good support.

I had no issue with them for the amount of time I was hosting with them. I stopped their hosting plan simply because it was more cost effective to host it myself. I just buy my domains from them now.

Haha. Yea, I didn't like the default profile picture anyway. It made me look feminine.

Re: Godaddy - does anyone have any experience using them for hosting or a site?

I personally (not the company I represent on here) have dealt with GoDaddy for many years. I am actually a web developer. I try to purchase all of my domains through GoDaddy, and have all of my web clients do so as well. For Domain Names I find them to have the best prices (and you can usually find a coupon online for at least a few $ off), and the ability to make the most changes or additions to your Domain Name settings. This is especially helpful for my clients because I like to use Google Apps as their email provider.

I dropped GoDaddy as my hosting provider about a year ago. They just turned my hosting account off, and then held my site, and my clients sites hostage (they wanted $150/hr to "recover" my sites and hand them over). Luckily I did practice backing up, and so not much data was lost. My largest ecommerce client suffered the most, but they are now back on track.

Having said all of this, I would say to go ahead with the Domain Names, but don't use them for anything else.

    Hi,

I have dealt with godaddy. They are a reliable source and do offer domain and hosting at a really reasonable price.
You should try using their service and if you don't like it, you can alway cancel after your account expire.

Either way, I would suggest you sign up with godaddy. Most big businesses use godaddy for their website, etc. I know because I have work at a few well known corporations that uses their site.

    good luck.

What range of overall cost should one expect for an ecommerce/reseller site if you put something together with GoDaddy? Obviously adding in the necessary aspects to have a quality site without buying the farm.

    Hi Stbjmb,

The cost would depend on what type of services or package you will decide to get from them. I would suggest contacting them directly to inquire about their services and packages. They offer 24/7 support so it should be fairly easily to get in touch with them - (480) 505-8877.

    Cheers :)
