Any way to escape from paying tax & custom with dropship

Post Jaruphons 31/10/2007 02:08

Hi all,

Has anyone tried to use the dropshipping service and was able to get away from paying Tax & custom? It might sound silly but i did tried once by buying a stuff and direct the item to be delivered to my address. However, I then received a letter from the custom department asking me to pay GST (or VAT in some other countries) plus Custom Tax.
I know that evading Tax should not exist in any countries but surely that everyone would have a thought of this.

Thx for all your comments.

do you mean any prodcuts with the value under 1000AU?
i do not think it could be used on the brand name prodcuts.
search for "the ins and outs" of any product in china before you import from china.

The time that I tried was PS3. Not too sure which particular items are subject to custom tax. Luckily I first tried the item to be shipped to my address. Otherwise my customers would be wondering why they get a letter from the custom department requiring to pay GST and Custom tax!!

Hi Jaruphons,
As far as I know, in New Zealand any goods under $400 value is duty free, after that value you must pay your dues. Find out the charges and incorporate them in your selling price. You will find that different items incur different percentages e.g Clothing I think is 15% plus 12.5% GST.Good Luck

in australia if the value of the item is under $1000.00 and the same product is not manufactured any where in australia whether it be brand name or not you will not pay customs or gst
this was confirmed by my customs broker
