Has anyone dealt with Doba.com?

Postby discountprices&buys » 24/09/2009 14:09

Hi Forum,

Thank you for your questions because they also provide access to answers and solutions for others of us with some of the same questions.

I am still searching for good wholesaler/dropshipper for "Baby Bedding" and thankful for Salehoo staff that have been supplying me with some prospective wholesalers/dropshippers.

In my quest I have come in contact with "Doba.com" or ProductSourcing.com. Their site markets over 30,000 different wholesale products and over 250 wholesalers/dropshippers for a "Basic" monthly membership fee. And of course they offer additional products and wholesalers/dropshippers if you want to upgrade at a "Premium" monthly membership rate.

Have any of you out there heard of Doba.com or ProductSourcing.com and have perhaps utilize them as your supplier/wholesaler/dropshipper?
I am earger to hear your views/comments/recommendations?

Doba.com and ProductSourcing.com are basically the same company. If you look at their domain registration through whois.sc, they registered under same company. I've used Doba.com in the past - was not success at all - I lost over $500. It seems like they have a lot of products to sell but the price does not give you good returns. After all the fees (ebay, paypal, shipping), you probably earn couple pennies for selling something over $50. On top, you pay for their membership and I have experienced really bad customer service. The phone always business and they don't give you any advice. When you first sign up, they call you like IMMEDIATELY to tell you all about it. After you become a PAID member, all that stopped EXCEPT when they try to advertise to get MORE money FROM you.

Hi discountprices&buys,

In addition to what Aznvcboi said, Doba is a good drop shipping service and easy to integrate with eBay, but it is expensive. Not only does it cost $49.95/month or $59.95/month (depending on the type of membership), drop shipping also requires you to pay a small fee on top of the wholesale cost of the product to cover the drop shipper's time spent packaging and posting the item. This additional cost can make significant inroads into your profit margins and it is not always the best way to make money in the long term.

But that's not to say that drop shipping is a bad idea altogether. It is a simple way to start a business, and in the long term, having some of your inventory drop shipped allows you to offer a broader range of items to your customers without the risk of holding stock. However, the online retail market is very competitive and business owners usually need to buy a significant proportion of their inventory in bulk from liquidators and wholesalers to ensure that they get maximum profit margins on each item. As Doba is simply a drop shipper, you don't get to pick and choose that combination that will give your business maximum competitive advantage.

Good day, I've deal with DOBA in the past, to be honest, for me it was the worse experience with a dropshipper I ever had, their prices is WAY up the market, I try to sell their items on ebay and other auction sites, and Bad Idea, and they only ship to US, they told me even if I'm a non-us resident that I still can deal with them, and I was totally scammed and back then I had to pay over $350 for subscription and I request a refund within 7 days after, and they never respond to me, so for me IF ANYONE DEAL WITH DOBA, please make sure you ask all the question, and If you live outside the USA, make sure they can ship to your country or anywhere else before paying, PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THE FINE PRINTS, because they RELY on that...

Just be careful...

I"ve used doba for about 6 months now and would give 2 stars out of 5.

There are about a hundred suppliers on doba.
But you cant contact them directly, doba acts as the liaison.
so if an order goes wrong, which theyve done about 10% of the time. It takes several days and even up to a month to settle the matter. Your customers will complain, and you cant do anything about it.

If youre an online retailer, you will spend about 1-2 hrs a day putting out fires and complaints from your customers.

Doba is expensive.
You can find things on amazon for cheaper.
I've found a lot of the products from suppliers here for a lot cheaper.
Once in a while you can find a supplier that sells things for cheap on doba. But its rare, im probably going to close my account soon now that i've found salehoo.

Avoid DOBA! They charge high monthly fees and their price points can't compete with other wholesalers. I was a member for 2 days and I canceled. They didn't even refund my money. They mark up their products then try to have you sell them for half the profit.
