Most times when you buy from a dropshipper, you are not going to make huge profits on each item. The dropshipper is taking all the risk in stocking the inventory and you just need to risk the money to advertise their products. Since you are risking less money, you can try to sell more products. If you could sell 5 items a day for a $10 profit, you will clear over 18k in a year. That is not bad for not taking much risk.

When people decide on dropshipping you make money by selling in bulk. I suggest selling good items on ebay by buying in bulk. Have other related items on your website that you can dropship. Yes the prices on your site will be higher and you will make small profits. The website will add additional revenue because some people will browse and buy items after looking at your ebay add. We can't always have a ton of products to selll on ebay. So I stock thae latest dropship goods on my site. It helps bring in additional small profits which is better than nothing.

so how do you deal with shipping then? do you charge extra shipping if you are stocking some and dropshipping some for the same order?

I charge standard rates on shipping. My dropshippers do the same. So shipping will always be the curent price per oz of goods. I dont make money off of shipping like some sellers. I just want the customers to buy the goods. I don't mind the small profits. I sell enough to pay for my sites and extra advertising. The taxes is different because most of the time if a dropshipper is incorporated in that state they have to charge sales tax. If I sell my product I only have to charge sales tax in my own state. So I have to change the tax rules on my items because of the different rates and ways of doing business.
