Can someone show me real US based wholesale sites?

I just joined salehoo thinking that there were real wholesale sites on here, only to find out that the sites on here are just sites that sell products at normal price, can someone actually show me a site promoted on here that you can actually buy there products and make money on ebay, after paying the ebay fees, shipping, and paypal fees, and still compete with the sellers on ebay?

This is not even a wholesale list, its just a bunch of sites that you can find anywhere, the search here isn't even good you type a product on the search, and you get a bunch of random sites that doesn't even sell what you were looking for, I fell totally scammed...Can someone show me some real wholesale sites that are in the U.S?....cause I don't see it.

I would really appreciate it if you guys could show me a few, because from what i see here its just normal retail sites that say they are cheap but when you search on ebay for the same product they are cheaper on ebay...Please don't show me overseas companies...I want to see real wholesale sites in the U.S.A

    Hi Tony,

That link that dx posted above may well be very helpful in explaining quite a bit for you, and thanks for posting that dx.

When you say you are looking for wholesalers, do you mean actual wholesalers or drop shippers?

While some people do still make money from using drop shippers on sites such as ebay, it can be quite difficult to find your feet when just entering the market.

Buying wholesale will always get you a much better price because you are buying in volume, however a true wholesaler will not be able to give you a wholesale price until they know what and how much of any given product you want to order.

This is a common misconception with quite a lot of new comers to the field of online sales, they look at a listed price without inquiring about volume buying (wholesale), then getting themselves a better price that may well allow themselves to compete.

That being said, there are some genres on ebay that smaller sellers simply have no chance of competing in because they are going up against very large sellers who are very well financed, and ones that buy in such volume that they have the market on its knees.

Another option you may well consider looking at since you are in the USA is liquidations. Now there are a few pitfalls that you need to be aware of when dealing in stock from that market, however it does offer sellers some really good opportunities to make money on ebay.

Selling second hand is another area where you can make good money on ebay, you just need to be in a large enough area to source stock, know what to sell and know how to talk a good deal.

If you would like to send through some specifics on what it is you're looking to source to link hidden, the staff there will do their best to turn up some buying leads for you to follow up on.

Btw, welcome to the site. biggest tip I can give you from someone who has been in business for much longer than I care to admit these days, don't let frustration guide your decision making.

Some get lucky, walk into this field and start making money, but believe me, it takes most a lot of time researching, turning over every rock they can find till they get a foot hold.

Those that get frustrated usually get out of the market altogether, those that dig in with a little determination always give themselves the best possible chance. Having said that, not everyone of them will succeed unfortunately, no matter how much they try, but this business model, like most, doesn't come with a guarantee of success unfortunately, just have to give it a red hot go!

Good luck with it, and just yell out any time you need assistance with anything at all.

    Cheers : )

Re: Can someone show me real US based wholesale sites?

UNfortunately, the years of grabbing items at pretty good prices and selling on eBay for a profit is mostly gone. I used to sell stuff I found at very good online venues on eBay and make decent money, particularly, computer products.

That vanished in the blink of an eye and prices are so low its not worth it. There were so many competitors from so many different areas.

Now you have to find a niche. A niche can be a hot seller that you can get a hold of or sell its peripherals.

Another is to sell items you create.

ANd another is to not sell on eBAy. Not everyone buys from eBay and many won't-ever.

I was listening to the radio the other day and the topic was business advice. One guy said he started an online business selling music equipment and in two years was doing very well and was now considering opening a brick and mortar store.

Can he compete on eBay? who knows. Honestly, I don't buy from eBay but I sell on eBay. I rarely if ever buy from eBay and the guitar I purchased recently I may have purchased from his site! And the goose down pillows I just bought, I got from an off eBay store and the new bedding/ you guessed it, off eBay.

So its not all eBay. EBay is huge and greedy. I have been to several forums where members don't sell on eBay and say they never would. They say why give eBay your money. But there are many many sellers that do and make a lot of money.

I think the sellers who make the most money have an off eBay website and direct buyers to their own website from eBay.

    Just my 2 pence.

Thanks guys for all the support, I'm just a bit frustrated because when i joined this site I was expecting to find company websites here that had products at a very low price, and what I have encountered so far is just normal prices like if i would have just googled them myself.

I was expecting to find real wholesale prices on these sites, I guess some would have to be contacted, and asked, I just joined the other night so hopefully I can make this all work for me

Many of the businesses you visit do sell at WHOLESALE prices. Some don't and personally I think they should be stricken from this forum. But many do. The problem you are running into is, as Fudjj has said many times in his referenced post on this thread, eBay is at, just under or just above wholesale. Now this isn't true of every item sold on eBay. But when you are talking about the major items like Ipods, most computer products, jewelry etc... . the regular seller is running into a brick wall because even your local retail shop isn't getting the items cheaper in most cases.
This isn't a Salehoo issue. It's an eBay fact of life.

You have BEST BUY Staples and other major retailers selling stuff on eBay. If someone has their buying power then they can compete. AS I said earlier, I used to buy off retail websites who sold at near wholesale prices and then turn around and sell on eBay and make a decent profit. That just isn't the case anymore.

EBay is saturated with sellers selling the same thing over and over. You can compete if you are within 2$ to 5$ profit and 5$ is pushing it in the high target market.

Don't fret as there is still money to be made on eBay outside of the normal items. Heck I saw a seller selling rocks and making good money. He found a niche and filled it.

Keep looking and asking opinions here on Salehoo. Salehoo is a great sounding board and place to bounce things off others.

Re: Can someone show me real US based wholesale sites?

ebay is a wholesale and retailed market as well. if you want to buy cheap products and sell it at ebay, the chance is very limited. one thing you can try is to buy bulk products from China. here is the website link hidden, you can find some good deals from there and then sell at ebay with competitively cheap price, but be aware that some Hong Kong sellers will definitely beat them as their source are cheaper than you. the other thing you could do well, find a good source of products you are very interested in, if you are the expert on that area, you can do it better, such as your list description and your knowledge, this is help you stand beyond other sellers. I hope this helps.

Re: Can someone show me real US based wholesale sites?

Regarding eBay. I very rarely sell there anymore because everybody wants everything for dirt cheap - including me. However, eBay is GREAT for finding bargains to resell elsewhere. Every day, in every category, there are items being sold on eBay at well below market value, Do some research, grab a few bargains and sell them at your local flea market, a garage sale or carboot sale, or even on another online auctions site., or (when you have snared a really great bargain, flip it back onto Ebay for profit. (Make your listing and pictures fantastic). I now use eBay as a supplier rather than as a sales venue and believe me it's better.

Difficult I can do right away. Impossible takes a little longer

    Hi Brent,

What products are you interested in? So we can help you search for suitable suppliers.

Please note that Asia (this includes China) is not the ideal place for you to source original brand name items. The prices will be very inviting but 9 out of 10 times these will be imitations. But if you are in the market for generic or no brand name items then you have a potential of finding a gold mine in Asia (or China in particular).

    Cheers!
