I have no clue on what to sell

I've been trying to get the hang of this wholesale business and it just isn't working. I started out thinking I could get by with selling designer brands from China, but that didn't work because they are all fake. If you're like me and are stubborn saying 'I can find a legit supplier for Nikes, Lacoste, Polo, ect..' good luck!

I am asking for advice on what markets to look into. It would be nice to have an extra $100 bucks or so coming in every week. I am in college, but I have space to hold inventory, they only problem is I don't know what to sell..

    Help please.

What sort of designer products were you looking for initially, and what sort of budget and time can you dedicate to the venture?

    Cheers

Re: I have no clue on what to sell

I have at least $500 I could dedicate to this venture! At first I was checking out Lacoste Polo's, Nike Dunk SB, and Ed Hardy. All hot sellers on eBay. Quite profitable when you can get the shirts and shoes for 1/5 their retail value. Most of my items were fake though and I didn't even know. eBay's VERO program shut me down. So now I'm stuck. Does that help?

    Thanks!

i wouldnt totally forget about online if you are in college but you are in a college!!! a college campus market would be a dream come true. turn your dorm into the campus walmart and just start asking people what they want and you'll get it for them. it's all rough starting out but soon word will spread AND Christmas is in 6 months so plenty of time to get your trade routes established. concentrate on that part and its going to be tight until then (but many major companies expect to run at a very small profit margin until the end of the year). buying from asia you can pretty much hang up the designer idea and buying from the US is too expensive. sounds like you might have lost a little money already but dont give up, youre on the right track.

Re: I have no clue on what to sell

in the mean time... raise a little capital selling what everybody on ebay sells... your extra stuff. one of a couple of reasons i started looking at doing this is because i ran out of my stuff to sell. (others include i was tired of paying 300% markup for a nasty hobby i have and the third is kinda personal... but...) i sold old collectible toys, cleaned out my basement twice and realized i could clean it out a third time. i sold and still sale old tshirts from thrift stores and yard sales for 10 bucks a pop (which profitability wise is a bigger profit margin than what I am importing!!). as long as you can part with it, think about it as capital, build up your ratings and look at your paypal account as your credit card.

if you need some campus leads i might can help you out if you wanna IM me. otherwise, try this advise. whatever you make, spend it all or save it all, never depend on it and you will have a blast.

Try ebay pulse and if you can afford 50us a month, try Terapeak. You'll know exactly what to sell n ur only question will be where to get it from..which is where im at now

Can someone give me some guidance? Where do I start? I don't want to sell anything I have myself.
    Thanks, Lieza.

Re: I have no clue on what to sell

it can be really hard to find what to sell, there is really no easy answer. im always looking for new things to sell. i guess start w/ what you know and try to see if you can find it at a price you can compete at. keep trying and trying and as your searching through the listings, check the stuff that you come across in their even if its not exactly what you want to sell, and see if you can compete w/ any of that and just go back and forth til you find something that works for you, don't be discouraged if you cant find anything, everyone has that problem. it aint easy but you start to enjoy the research after awhile, and never be afraid to ask questions and bounce ideas off of people, thats what these forums are for and plenty of people willing to give their advice when they can. i'm just a newb myself i'm still learning and still asking lots of questions.

yep, i put em on for 9.99 with free shipping and wind up making about 5.00 a transaction... it's not much but steady and helps fund my stock purchases.

Re: I have no clue on what to sell

I LIKE THE TSHIRT DEAL, IN FACT I DO THE SAME, NOT MY OLD T,s BUT SHIRTS I BUY FROM A LOCAL THRIFT STORE, MOST TOWNS HAVE AT LEAST A FEW OF THESE STORES. THEY CAN BE A GOLDMINE TO EBAY SELLERS. ALOT OF THEM SELL ALL KINDS OF GOODS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU WILL FIND!!!! ALSO YARD SALES ARE GREAT , EVEN BETTER THAN THRIFT STORES IN MOST CASES, BECAUSE YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH NAME YOUR PRICE!!!! SO JUST START OUT ALONG THOSE LINES AND YOU WILL DO GREAT. PLENTY OF TIME TO FIND OTHER SUPPLIERS. AND ALWAYS REMEBER THIS IN EVERY PERSON THEIR IS SOMTHING THAT CAN BE TRANSFORMED INTO A GREAT EBAY PRODUCT. SO LOOK WITHIN, A HOBBY, SOME SPECAIL KNOW HOW, A CRAFT IDEAL, ECT.
