hi im new to importing stuff. im not from the US and im trying to see if this business can work for me. can anyone give me tips on how to start up and what i should look out for in customs and stuff.

yeah sorry bout the double post i thought the other one didn't show. anyway, im after electronics at the mo.. trying to start with little stuff first see how it works. so how has it worked for u so far?

i deal mainly in clothing as i found there is very little profit to be made via electronics.

its about 12.5% depending what it is. i have heard of some people having to pay up to 30% tho

OMG on looking at some of the fact sheets the fee is 20.5% for most things and even higher for clothing!

VAT and customs depends on which country you are importing into. Also, customs is generally dependant on the type of product you are importing. Some products are duty free! (are still taxable via VAT)

The better option is to be unique as others have said,. think of something that hardly anyone sells and search for that rather than trying for things like ipods
It takes alot of hard work and money but at the end of the day you get the rewards :D

You have to account for all of this when importing anything, it might be worth calling customs up..

If you have them dropshipped to your customers and the product doesnt hit your doorstep then you are not responsible for taxes, the customer is. You might want to check up with your state comptroller's office and ask them about that though for I am no tax law guru.
