    Importing to NZ - Customs advice and any tips?

    hi im new to importing stuff. im not from the US and im trying to see if this business can work for me. can anyone give me tips on how to start up and what i should look out for in customs and stuff.

    as in the other post, you have to pay import duties.

    Shipping to new zealand is very very expensive. i would say double what the price of the stock is and that is pretty much what you will be paying for shipping and exchange rate then add import duties to that. it does make it really hard for us people over here.

    yeah sorry bout the double post i thought the other one didn't show. anyway, im after electronics at the mo.. trying to start with little stuff first see how it works. so how has it worked for u so far?

    i deal mainly in clothing as i found there is very little profit to be made via electronics.
    The better option is to be unique as others have said,. think of something that hardly anyone sells and search for that rather than trying for things like ipods

    It takes alot of hard work and money but at the end of the day you get the rewards :D

    its about 12.5% depending what it is. i have heard of some people having to pay up to 30% tho

    Vat is 17.5 %

    Customs is around 14%
