Liquidation.com story

Postby Trillium » 31/01/2007 02:31

I don't know if I should shame them here yet but here is what happened to me.

Recently I purchased a lot of 4gb flash/pen usb drives from there and listed some on ebay. Today I was informed that they are fake from another eBay seller. When I received them I took one and checked the drive properties and it showed they were 4gb. Tonight I tried copying some large files and they all appeared to copy OK. But when I tried to read them, they were corrupt. It seems as though this one drive is around 512mb. I am calling Liquidation tomorrow and see what they say.

I have pulled my listings and am contacting the people that bought from me for refunds.

I hope Liquidation does something as this is outright fraud. Come to find out through Googling that this is actually fairly common on eBay with these fake drives. So be careful.

Why would someone or company go through so much trouble for such a small cost item? It must be complicted how this is done.

And I thought that this year I was going to make a profit. Last year I lost over $3000 in scams.

Well I have not yet had a bad experience from liquidation.com But I know that not everyone will have perfect experiences. Ive also checked ripoffreport.com to see any complaints on them. There were only about 23 complaints since 2001. But im sure the BBB reports are much higher. But all considering, Thats actually very good considering the fact they close 2 million auctions a year.

Liquidation.com is a major liquidator in the USA. They are also a very big company. If fake flash drive pens have been going around its just possible they didnt know. Some of the product they get comes from other businesses so most likely its the business they are liquidating the product for thats truly at fault.

Im not sure how long you have had this product. Or if you tested it right after you recieved it. They do have a 2 day policy on reporting misrepresented products. But here is the stated policy on this kind of problem

# Who is responsible for damaged or grossly misrepresented merchandise?

If Liquidation.com arranged and managed the delivery of the merchandise and the merchandise you received was damaged in transit, or is grossly misrepresented, you must notify us immediately and note it on the Bill of Lading. You must complete the dispute form and submit it within two (2) business days of receiving your merchandise. To download a PDF version of our dispute form, please click here. If the items were damaged in transit, Liquidation.com will file a claim with the carrier/shipping service and provide a resolution to the buyer. If the items are grossly misrepresented, Liquidation.com will investigate the matter and come to a resolution to be adhered to by both buyer and seller.

# Can I return the merchandise after it has been delivered?

If Liquidation.com arranged and managed the delivery of the merchandise and the merchandise you received was damaged in transit, or is grossly misrepresented, you must notify Liquidation.com immediately and note it on the Bill of Lading. You must then complete the dispute form and submit it within two (2) business days of receiving your merchandise.

Im sure it has been more then 2 days,
But you can still try contacting them.

I hope you can get this resolved.

My advise is only bid into products that have alot of pictures to see the product they are selling. And try to only buy items that are in the possession of liquidation.com . Because items they have they personally take the pictures on. And make sure you read ALL the details listed and as soon as your product arrives. FULLY INSPECT IT.

You also stated to me that you had some movie posters with crumpled edges. Is it possible that this was caused by improper shipping or packaging? You might be able to file a cliam with the shipping company on that part

I agree with JIMMY , I use RIPOFF REPORT as a guide what to look out for and 23 bad reports is not that much for the amout of transactions .Also some people just do not take the time to read desriptions well - i have 2 negative feedbacks on ebay because of this -people tend to assume things and not read ....good luck !!

Liquidation.com story

Postby ccorona22070 » 03/02/2007 07:07

I have nothing to say good about liquidation.com. I had experienced nothing but problems with them. If you paid through paypal file a claim with them. If you don't they will lead you on a wild goose chase. Liquidation.com will take your money, but when you have a problem, you get the run around. If it wasn't for me to file the disputes through paypal, I don't think I would of received my money back. Liquidation.com states that they check their sellers out, don't believe that. I bidded on something, won it, they received the money, they could not provide me with the sellers information, it was bogus. Their guidelines sound good, but wait to you have a problem. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!1

I have only bought 2 auctions from people that were not the bigger sellers - i always click on the sellers name and see how much activity they have as far as sells ...I just recently bought a large solar light lot from a new seller it was a $1300 transaction but i will make good money in the long run if it works out ..good luck.

Two Day Rule

Postby Trillium » 04/02/2007 03:13

I have come to find out that Liquidation has a very strong two day AS IS rule where you have just two days to fully inspect your purchase. In something like these flash drives, unless you really no what you're looking for you would think they are OK. I did actually test one right away and the computer did show that it was 4gb. After taking one apart yesterday and checking the chip inside and looking up the number. It is actually just 256 mb instead of 4gb. So apparently selling illegal goods on liquidation.com is OK as long as the buyer takes longer than two days to discover that.

After doing a lot of searching it appears that this size fraud is pretty rampant with flash drives including name brand lookalikes such as Sony. This is also accuring with those generic mp4 players.

These drives were purchased from one of their own warehouses. You woild think a big company like this would verify the merchandice they sell for others.

I would not trust liquidation.com. You have to really know exactly what you are bidding on. They put all the burden on you the buyer.

Unfortunately liquidation.com has similar problems just like ebay. there is so much scamming and ripoffs floating around its really hard to know whats what anymore.

I would suggest trying to find out who the seller was. Its probably a business in the USA. If they are then file a complaint with the better business beuro on them.
Liquidation does not have a very good dispute resolution setup. Thats obvious. Thier customer service is that of an idiot warehouse front desk worker that hates his job and gets cussed out on the phone so much he just doesnt give a crap anymore.

One of the good things about ebay is the dispute console can literally hurt the seller if they are selling crap merchandise. So you can fight tooth and nail to get your situation settled.

liquidation.com has a 20 Percent crap auction rating meaning about 20 percent of it is just junk. Just like any local auction they sell crap too. Thats why you need to read every detail of every auction before you bid into it.

They have thier ups and downs to purchasing items. But pretty much every company has this.

I have had good luck with liquidation. I have bought a few items and had packages lost before. It took about 30 days but I did get a refund from the company for the lost goods. They have even tried to make arrangements to get new products shipped is available.

I have found that in many cases the bidding goes way beyond the real value of the products being sold. Its gets crazy and you end up paying too much. Also there are seller selling shelf pulls and return items. And it turns out to be junk. I stay away from items from Target because if target is selling at an auction it means they could not sell it at the store and it was most likely a returned item and not sellable. I have to admit I've won a few auctions and gotten some good items. when the discription of the item is retail ready and the pictures shows the actual package your pretty safe bidding on that item.

One time I won a pallet of Pansonic Phones & fax Machines, this was my first auction and I was new, boy did I learn from this one. Most of the machines were junk and they hit me hard on the shipping. Lost about 800 bucks....So beware!!!!

Yes thats the only big issue with liquidation. You have to really read the fine print. But I guess that can go the same way with ebay. You gotta read the whole auction to make sure your not missing something.

Luckily I havent lost anything on liquidation. But im a carefull bidder. I need actuall pictures of the product and a detailed manifest before I put the time in for a bid.

The kids clothing lots I will only buy the designer lots.

Honestly I think we have some sellers on liquidation that are using seperate accounts to boost the bids.

About 2 years ago similar items were going dirt cheap. So im thinking that some of the sellers are shill bidding on thier own items to raise the value of the items.

hey jmoon have you tried selling them in lots. I normally sell 4 to 6 outfits at a time. They usually get pushed over $30-$40 dollars plus the shipping. Since I average $2.25 to $2.60 a set thats a decent profit . And it also keeps me from having to relist single items. As more people would rather buy into lots then just 1 item.

Just make sure they are all the same size. And youll get those desperat mothers looking for more then 1 item. So thier kids goto school in syle hehe

Resolving problems with Liquidation.com

Postby jyedvobnick » 28/06/2007 17:53

I purchased a lot of used laptops that were crap (not as described in their listing). Since I checked them out within their 2 day time limit, I got a FULL REFUND!

Like everyone else comments, be very careful when bidding on used goods there.

It also helps to be firm but not totally lose it!
