Post TripleG 03/03/2007 01:01

Hello,

I was wondering how this works do they charge me if I take money out an ATM besides the 2.50 the ATM charges?Do they charge me if I buy something online or in the store with it? Basicly what are the fees for having a Debit Card with Paypal.

I have a couple questions on this myself.

I see that paypal charges to transfer funds to paypal card, but should'nt the money in my paypal account already be on my paypal card? or am I not understanding it.

If you have a PayPal debit card already, you use the funds that are in your account already. They do not charge a fee to "Put" the money on your card as your card is derectly linked to your PayPal Account. All of their fees about the PayPal debit card can be found on their site at:

*sorry about the long link, but there it is.

NOTE: Please be Careful about the PayPal debit Card, as the following has happened to me.

* I sold an item for $679 of which about $624 was deposited into my paypal account (after fees). So I went about spending my money. Well, Paypal thought it looked "Suspicious" and froze my account and took the money out. I had a (-)300 Balance on my card. They made me verify every bit of information Including supplier of the item I sold on ebay. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to sort out. So PLEASE BE CAREFUL, they may put the money in your account, but they can also take it out and freeze it for any reason they see fit :(

Ive never been charged to transfers fund from my bank account but I have been charged transfering funds from 1 paypal account to another. We have 3 paypal accounts so sometimes we transfer the funds from 1 to the other to pay for large purchases. I honestly think thats unfair considering the fact thier all registered under the same name. But I dont write thier policy. If I did everything would be free lol :D

I don't have a card yet but I may get one. This is what I want it for and maybe you can tell me if it would be good for this.

My supplier doesn't take paypal, I order through email, and I didn't want to have to wait 2-3 days for money to transfer form paypal to checking account. I do have 30 days to pay but that's a good way to rack up a high bill. I would rather pay for each order when I recieve payment from customer.

Would a paypal card be good for this?

Paypal was using the attached bank account as a overdraft like system for the paypal acct, not sure if they are still doing this though. You would probably have to as them about this, I think using the paypal acct to purchase items is a great idea, as long as you keep the money in there to cover the items, it would also allow you to know what the profit was and keep track of all income and expenses of the online business.

Paypal takes a dollar or some small amount out of your account and on your transaction statement there will be a number before the word paypal.

I use my debit card all the time at stores, pawn shops , gas stations and more. I never get charged for buying. If I go over then paypal automatically withdraws the amount needed from my personal bank account. I havent incurred any fees other then seller fees

Paypal Debit Card

Post smwelch1 21/06/2007 18:24

I have had mine since it became available 1999 or 2000. I love the debit card because of it's convenience. The other feature I love is the cash back bonus. not sure how much it is but I save a little bit on every purchase I make with the debit card. (example when I pay my health insurance of $167, I get back around $4) and it's added back to my account as soon as the debit "completes". So I save when I pay for my health insurance, purchase items for resale, buy gas, groceries or other items. The cash back doesn't work for items paid with paypal, only items paid using the debit card. So if you don't have the debit card yet, it's well worth the time to get!

Looking at they key terms of the Paypal card it seems they are muggin you on 1) the percentage rate they are charging you is extremely high, especially since now getting a card for 0% for a term is everywhere 2) the fact they charge your fees to move money within their own system 3) Charge fees when you transact from one paypal account to another. 4) They have the ability to add and deduct at-will in your account. 5) you don't have the access to meet with, like your local bank, to discuss matters of your account.

SO what benefit does a payal card have? Please don't say thier safety and buyer protection bc I think we all know it's a complete crap shoot with them.

It would seem to me that payapl actually double charges you and sometimes triple charges you. Just follow me for a minute:

You list an item and the buyer pays $100 via paypal: you are charged a fee (i.e 2.90)
You use that money ($97.10) to buy from another paypal customer: They are charged a fee. ($2.82)

You list that item and the buyer pays via paypal: you are charged a fee.($2.74)

You visit the ATM for $50 and a celebration of the sale: You are charged for an ATM transaction and yes, another paypal fee. (atm fee $2.00 pp fee $2.35) = $4.35

After the celebration, you transfer money ($50) to another paypal account you already have linked to your bank: Charged a fee again. ($1.45)

Add it up. for $100 you spent ~ $14 in fees from paypal. 14%
