Dropshippers Bay - 'pot luck' bundles any good?

Post mabullas 19/04/2007 13:09

Has anyone ever purchased any of those 'pot luck' lots through Dropshippers Bay? They've got one at the moment for $49.95 supposed to have over $400 of closeout stuff. It's tempting because it's a small outlay, but I'm a bit apprehensive in case it's over $400 RRP of stuff that no-one wants and I can't sell, or which would be OK for market stalls but wouldn't work in other selling environments like ebay.

Has anyone ever bought these, or had any dealings with Dropshippers Bay?

Thanks, Wholesale Joe. It's good to hear when other members have dealt with a supplier.

I did get the impression that he was a good legit supplier of 'real' (ie not dodgy) goods. I do like some of the things I've seen in his emails. I've been thinking about whether to purchase the pot luck, but had been holding back because of pot luck deals from other suppliers (eg Luxury Maggazzino), which others had said were the real deal but basically the left overs that no-one else would sell. So basically it turned me off all pot luck deals, because I wasn't sure whether other suppliers also used 'pot luck' to offload unsellables. (I don't yet have a lot of experience buying pot luck lots, so I've been a bit cautious.)

But he's also offering lifetime membership of the Millinium Club with 2 pot luck purchases, which looks like a really good deal to me.

The other worry I had is whether the pot luck deals from Dropshippers Bay are more ebay type sellers or more market stall type stuff. As I'm a full time carer and can't really set up a market stall, that was a major worry. I deal mainly with auction sites because I can sell from home piecemeal throughout the day without eating into the time I need for that. However, I suppose if it were the latter, I could always cherry pick and then put up the rest on ebay as a wholesale lot for market stalls.

I might have a go and see what I get (depends on shipping costs, too, cause that eats into my profits....)

Now if I only hadn't just put a large jewellery order into 24 Karat, and also saw some really good (authenticated) designer sunglasses being cleared out retail that I was going to buy tomorrow. Looks like the old credit card is going to get a workout.....

I will do that. Thanks, Wholesale Joe. I am really tempted by this deal. (Will make sure that there are no electricals, though, because we're overseas....)

Now that I'm actually starting to get stock in and starting to sell, it's starting to be fun!

If was outside the USA I would focus on cheap fashion jewelry as its easy and cheap to ship to your country from the USA and I think you would find higher profits

Im not sure of potluck lots. They arent very expensive so I guess it could be worth the risk since it wouldnt be a big loss. You could always resell it as the same. lol
