This is a great tool and is very good guide for products to sell. One thing perhaps you could work on is making its searches a bit more specific. I think at the moment it has a US bias. If it could be made to search a persons home country e-bay site would be good and perhaps more accurate for particular items

But its good so far

I think it is not good enough because everytime I use it, the result will be 75% potential for selling this product. But when I click more research, it shows that the market is poor because there is a few people searching this product from internet. It is bias.

I think Marketing Research Wizard from Worldwidebrand is much better.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi there, thanks for the feed back. The current levels of potential will be adjusted once we have enough data in our database.

We will then be able to see lowest, highest and average levels and will update levels to suit :-)

Any other comments just let me know.

Hello

I think it should be more detailed & specific. The results are too general & the potential is always around 70% which doesn't make sense in accordance to the demand.

I think what you should add up to it is a Supplier section where people could find the suppliers( dropshipers, wholesalers liquidators, etc) right on the spot.

Research tool

Post jedda.husky 22/10/2007 03:04

I am new to selling and am still in the product research phase. I have been trading on eBay since 2001. I have tried both Terapeak and this tool, but have not tried Hammertap, because it does not work on a Mac. Your tool gave me a heads up of 75% on a particular product idea, recommending a possible market niche. I have researched it more specifically and I'm not sure I agree. There are a number of Powersellers & others selling this specific product, and I'm not sure I can compete. I do have virtual PC on my Mac & will probably try HammerTap, just to compare. I'm open-minded because I am still learning. I definitely like the idea and what this tool is trying to accomplish. Each of the tools is a bit different in both what it is researching and the time frame that it is investigating.
The other issue I have is that this specific product is not available from any of the SaleHoo suppliers. So I am not sure where to go next. I haven't been able to find this product at any of the other suppliers recommended by your site or other sites that I have visited. It will definitely take some investigation, if this turns out to be a lucrative path. Do you have any suggestions on where else to look?
Thanks

It would be handy to have the search results shown on the history page.

Don't like it myself, I think it uses an over simplified calculation to base it's results on.

From what I have seen of it in action, it works on the theory that if ebay is not saturated with a particular product, then you will get a high probability of that product being a good chance.

That's straight out rubbish, just because ebay dosen't have much of a range of a certain product, you can't just draw the conclusion that product has a 75% chance of selling.

More gimmick for me than anything useful, certainly at this stage of development. Will be interesting to see in what direction you take it.

The product reaserch tool is a great Idea but it lacks functionality.I often get 75% back as a result no matter what the search and find that when I look at Adverts they are often for products non related to my search.
Also on the Demand pages we get results for UK, US, Canada and Austrailia.
I know it''s difficult to gather all info but there are many more marketplaces out there, why don't we get feedback on them?

Keep improving and you could be onto a winner eventually but it's a way off right now.
