Live Chat!! I thought we could use a live chat room!Live Chat!! I thought we could use a live chat room! Hello again everyone.
As I am putting the buyers group site together I thought it would be cool to have some live chat capabilities so everyone can chat about what's working for them, share supply methods, talk about what's hot, what has worked for you and so on. The chatroom is pretty basic right now, I just wanted to through one up and see if people would actually use it. If people like the idea then I will add a very professional chat script to the buyers group site. Here's the link. ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members** Thanks and enjoy.
what if you did like a once a month pow wow chat where all members can log on at the same time and discuss everything..or like one topic a month or something, and if they cant make it to the live chat maybe hav some kind of chat log that can be posted and they can read it when they have time?
I like that idea Jenn... Do topics for specific areas, like importing, selling in auctions, finding products to sell at auctions, selling via online store, how to obtain necessary business licensing (maybe different sessions for different countries). Someone who is knowledgable in the specific topic could kind of "run" the chat... providing the info for other members. And anyone who has 2 cents to throw in, questions, etc can join in.
And transcripts of the chats are a good idea. :D Bianca

We will look at sorting something like this out for members in the next couple of months. Our thought was to get people to email q's in and we cna structure the chat sessions around these. They would be limited to about 100-150 people so it works well but could record them and put them online for all to see.
Keep the input coming as it helps us know what you want to know ;) SaleHoo Site Admin

Ive been thinking about that for a while now, dunno why I didnt suggest it. I suppose we've all been thinking of it too :)

I was actually thinking about a permanent chat room type deal here, so that when people log on they can check to see if anyone was in or not.

We're refering to that too... for general chat, but in addition to a general chat type thing, offer structured chats about topics that people want to learn about, or that one or two people have some knowledge of and are willing to teach to the others.

If you want to do chats to teach people stuff good luck, too many people too many questions, you'd get no where. Video that people can watch own time is best way to teach.
And having a chat where people just leave a message and people respond is no different than having a forum. Live chat is the only way to do chat. Would be a great tool for something like this for networking with others and so on. Yeah I know it sucks cause you go to the chatroom and no one is there to talk to. But stick with it and as salehoo grows so will the chatroom. The best way to build up a chat room is to be there yourself. Even if you don't chat on it all the time at least sign in so there are people there and check in from time to time. My $0.02
For now this could be best suited to a scheduled yahoo created chat room of sorts. We also have to keep in mind of the fact that we may be over extending ourselves at this time. Although a chatroom is a WONDERFUL idea, it just may not be the right time for it.
