What should a newbie sell for starting ?

Post johnnyborga 25/11/2007 11:14

Hi, I am new to this business, but very motivated into starting this.
I have been doing some research and some experiences with sites like DHGATE and Chinavision, but there is a big competition out there making it very hard to sell. I have been tempted by the E-books business but still a bit skeptical about it.
I know that for a starting I should start with small and cheap items, so what would be best for a newbie ? selling digital content ? or material goods ?

Well, why don't you try a mix of both and see what works best for you. It never hurts to have multiple streams of income...

I don't understand your question are you refering to the content or the actual book?

I'll try to deal with both topics.

Content.
I normally write about things I know about, for example I won some years ago, Junior Mr. Lancashire in a bodybuilding competition, so at the age of 17 (before the age of the internet I may add!) I wrote out my training course and got someone to type it up. Ok, so you'll be good at something, are you the guy who does the best BBQs in your area? Does everyone ask you to sort their car out? You get the jist??

Writing an ebook.
I use a free program called openoffice, you can download it free from ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members** I use the writer and its almost like using Microsoft Word, but when you have finished and checked the document, you click on a button marked PDF and name it, then its saved to your computer as a PDF file!

Done! Then sell it...

Well I do not have great skills to write about it, and I am not a good writer as well, as I need faster results, I'd prefer to sell others resale rights books.
I could also compile some content I find on the internet, but do not know where to start and what to research, and this would take a long time. I think

Well, if you have no skills to write about and no writing skills either, then if you still want to do ebooks you might want to use a piece of software called "instant article wizard" or one of the other aritcle software items..

Using those types of software you just enter the subject and it automatically searches the web for information on that subject and compiles it into an ebook for you. It's very fast and it will even compile the heading and indexs for you. Pretty much does the whole ball of wax. After your book is written (in something like microsoft word) or open office like grahamg suggested, you just put it into a pdf file and sell it..You can also use a program called pdf996 to create a pdf file by just clicking "print" and it will turn the file into a pdf file and your ready to go..pdf996 normally converts the matter into an adobe reader file, which most everyone has on their computer...

Ebooks are a great money maker as they require little to no capital to sell them. Use your own personal knowlege. People pay money every day for information. That is what this site is. Information. When you want to learn something you can look it up or you can pay for someone elses information. The information you can sell is limitless. Just use your imagination. And there is many sources out there for people that are not professional writers.
