Bidpay is another I know of but its a pain in the rear as they are very quick to cancel a transaction if they think there may be an issue with it. As far as others that are reliable im not sure

Hi I personally dropped using payment services and signed up for a free merchant account. Using ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members** So im uncertain as why your waiting for setup as ite only take around 24 hours to be setup.

Almost loosing a small fortune to paypal and having issues with bidpay I needed a reliable alternative.

Setting up a real merchant account has been great and the fees are much lower then money handling services like paypal and bidpay. All the money goes right into our checking account within a few days.

It does take a day or two to get the merchant account setup but you can take Visa,Mastercard,American Express, Discover and Diners club cards. 5 Cards Versus the 2 you can take with the other services. This also increases your chances of sales.

You also get access to a free shopping cart you can link to your auctions. All the bidder has to do is enter their email address in the link you provide on the auction page and all of thier winning bids come up in a shopping cart page where they can arrange payment.

If you ship using FedEx like me you can use a program called ship rush to automate your shipping so you can handle shipping quickly. And this program is free for fedex users.

There is many things you can do as far as payment options to your bidders. You don't have to rely just on bidpay or paypal.

If you intend to to alot of sales like 50 to 100 per month then Its best to use a real merchant account.

I'm pretty sure BidPay is not accepting any new customers according to their website. I'm not sure how this will affect existing ones.

Even existing customers will not be able to accept payments according to bidpay. All you can do is just look at your previous transactions and that's about it. They have totaly discontinued their service since December 31st.

Google checkout transfers your money
to your account within (5) days...I use them
and they are great....Got scammed by a
seller of iPhones and google got me a refund.

So I'm very happy with them.

Thanks Jimmy,

There are always work arounds for eBay policies...
you could use eBay classifieds to list an item send buyers to your website, to an opt-in list or sales page where the Google Checkout is...

So can you used this merchantinc account with ebay as a substitute for Pay Pal?

Yes I have currently done over 1100 transactions using Merchantinc over paypal. I personally do not trust paypal with a dime of my money after the incident I had with them in september trying to freeze and steal 23k in money I had in my account. The merchant account is a little more involved in setting up then a paypal account but the extra work is worth the security of controlling every transaction.

I recently had a incident with a NIntendo Wii I sold. The buyer begged me for express shipping. I told him the Price and he agreed. I sent him a invoice and immediately shipped the item. Even after confermation of the delivery and 2 weeks later that bidder did not pay the additional 105 for the shipping.

With paypal I would have no control of that situation. I would have taken a 105 loss for my act of kindness and shipping the unit immediately.

With my own merchant account I manually charged his credit card for the payment. I had full control of that transaction from day 1.

You cant get that with PAYPAL.
