U.S. Customs Fees for importing from ChinaU.S. Customs Fees for importing from China I am trying to make a sample purchase from a supplier I found in China. If my sample purchase goes well, I would like to make additional purchases. When the supplier ships the mechandize, What I am not sure about is the type of customs fee I will have to pay, if any and how that process works.
Looking for inputs/advise from someone who has done it before and is located in the U.S. Thanks
Well, it depends on what items you've ordered. If it a large package it's a pretty sure bet that customs will stop it especially if it's apparel. Usually the smaller the package the better chances you have that it will pass through. My suppliers know not to package in large boxes. I have never been inflicted with any additional customs fees so i can't help you out with that. Good luck.
To be specific, I would like to order between Qty 5-20 MP3/MP4 players for each purchase. I suspect that this wouldn't be packaged in large boxes but I can certainly instruct my supplier to pack in smal boxes or box.
By the way, if U.S. customs fees are required...who contacts me for the fees and how do I pay the fees? Thanks
When your item is delivered the postman will ask you for additional monies or you may get a bill.
Have your supplier ship by EMS and on the discription have the supplier indicate
that the items are samples or replacement parts and are not for resale. John(bacpro) PS: If they ship by DHL or FEx, you will be asked to fill out all kinds forms...EMS hands over to our USPS>>>>Sign & deliver
Most shipments I get from China are marked Gift or as John stated not for resale. Im not sure how wise it is to falsely mark customs documents (not really your problem) but many large orders later I have never had to pay a duty.
