trouble with products and what to sell

Seems like all the products here fall into 1 of 3 categories ; electronics, jewelry, or hand bags.

I have a nice site and can sell items for less than the big chains. Problem is getting people into your store first.

The internet is so saturated with mp3, mp4s, video games, hand-bags, etc... that I see little potential in being able to compete or make a living selling something this common.

Does anyone have any unique ideas for my site ? LIke the Hillary Clinton nutcracker. These guys have gotten rich off that dumb idea.

This is the kind of thing I'm looking for, anyone have an idea we can team up on ?

let me know... I have a site in place with products, merchant account etc... but I'm afraid it's the same old stuff.

Hi,
I feel the same way! the market is so full with so much of the same thing that you have to fight with your own supplier on these sites for sales of their products. It is sad that big companys have contracts thru almost all of the manufactures that no one can get cost prices anymore. But I have a great Idea if you would want to hear about it email me back.

In my case with electronics Ive tried to offer my customers something that most places dont. A comprehensive in house warrunty plan. This is a great way for us to add 100$ extra to a product by offering a 2yr warranty. Buying liquidated items is a great way to stock up on cheap parts as well.

540freeman,

Hi all,

I am totally new to selling on ebay and online etc. I have been made redundant and with a one year old I want to now work from home so I can spend as much time with my daughter whilst still keeping a roof over her head!

I have read all the books and researched the web (was in marketing so know about research etc) but I still have absolutely no clue what to sell. A friend of a friend was selling Gillete blades and they did really well but were fake. I am only interested in selling legitimate gear but cannot find a supplier that ships these to the UK at a good price. So really I need to find general everyday consumables but just don't know.

Please please help me, this is so hard

Here is a trick. Try and find goods off the US ebay site and see if it can compete with the prices on the UK site. You can get items shipped from the US for about half off due to the conversion rates.
If you find an item see if the seller will ship with a blind customs form. Meaning ship with a value below 50$ as gift. I know its a little shady but you'll save a good amount of money.

You may be able to pull this off because people like to buy close to home instead of from the US. List on Craigslist UK and save on eBay fees.
