    Selling fake designer jeans in Aust.

    Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on selling fake designer jeans on ebay & at the markets. Is it illegal in Australia to do this if the customers are aware the jeans aren't authentic? If it is illegal then how strictly do they police this? I mean half the stuff you see down at Paddys Markets in sydney is fake.. If anyone could shed light it's legality it'd be much appreciated.

    You can be convicted in any country for selling fakes and using the logos and brand names of the real designers.

    Most get away from this by selling them as designer inspired. Sell these on ebay and you will loose your account fast.

    My advise is to steer clear altogether.

    Send them in the mail and it is mail fraud. We no longer sell copies or replicas to our customers even when they ask for them.

    price always tells, i bet more than half on ebay are fake. actually i remember reading something where ebay said in a press release that close to 90 percent were fake. this is believe because how you can buy a 3000 usd purse for 250 bucks, especially when prada doesn't wholesale to normal joes

    Ebay don't want to be too strict with there policing, because if you took away all the fakes there would be no Ebay.

    Actually that not true. There are millions of legitimate sellers selling good usable products. Solving this problem would benifit ebay more then hurt it.

    Ebay is very strict on selling fakes. But ebay has to prove that the items are fakes. When you have 5 million sellers on ebay and a staff of only 4000 employees. In which over 300 of them try to monitor the site. With over 35 million auctions closing each day. Thats a big margin of auctions ebay has to pay attention to. They rely more on buyer feedback then you realize. If you yourself dont report these scammers then ebay has little they can do. But ebay is banning people left and right to fight this problem but it will never end because ebay is way to large to totally control.

    You see the commercials for ubid stating 100% fraud guarantee?
    That is because thier screening process is so strict that very few bother to register. They think they can be the next ebay. But thats very doubtfull. If they were as large as ebay they would have the same problems, but they wont be just because the average housewife cant sell her junk in the closet without registering a company and going through thier strict policies.

    I would say the easiest way to stay out of this mess, is that whoever your warehouse supplier is ask them up front:

    A) What is the age of the item?

    and

    B) Does it come with certificates?

    If they can answer both questions then its good most likely non-fake or won't be in trouble. If they can't answer them, run away fast especially on DHGate or Ace Clothing.
