    Warning - the iPods on DHGate are fakes!

    have just had some faulty iPods from DHGate checked at the apple store, either apple does not recognize the serial numbers at all or serials are recognized but for different makes & models than the ones provided. It was actually quite comical watching the puzzled apple staff scratch their heads & try to explain why the white iPod video provided was registered with apple as a black model :lol:

    Sounds like they are selling Refurbs.

    I just purchased some of the iPod Nano 2gb's for $135 on DHGate from a seller with good feedback. They're saying these are brand new. I should be receiving them soon, I hope they're not fakes! I'll let you guys know how it goes.

    i really don't know how apple can control it especially if the Chinese who manufactures them makes more than apple actually orders.

    Why would refurbs not have authentic serial numbers?

    Maybe they are repairing Ipods with generic parts not made by apple? I know they have alot of Ipods listed that say the serial number is not the same on the inside and outside. I'm pretty sure those are refurbs. You can still make some money off the refurbs though.

    I think that means the serial number on the outside of the box doesn't match the serial number on the back of iPod. This would tell me that they aren't authentic Apple products because they most likely just ordered a large print run of the boxes and used the same serial number on each one so there would only be one setup charge.

    A refurbished iPod purchased from Apple comes in a generic white box, not the original retail packaging.

    I just got my order of Ipod 2gb Nano's that I ordered from dhgate for $135 a piece. They were just as described. I received them brand new in the original boxes still shrink wrapped. I tested one of them out on my computer and everything works great. These seem to be the real deal.

    They are fakes. I ordered 3 and they are no good. I just use them as external drives.
