Mystery auctions on eBay

Mystery auctions on eBay

Does anyone know anything about mystery auctions? I've seen them all over ebay. I understand how they work from the buyer's perspective, but I don't understand how sellers make money from them. Are they just for fun or to get rid of extra stock? or can sellers make some kind of profit? Please let me know.

Hi,
sellers make HUGER amounts of profit with Mystery auctions! It's a way to get rid of stock that will not sell, so all you do is get 20 items with a Retails price of say $40 each = $800, and list it for bid price $0.99, watch it sore...

I had some designer (genuine) Pony clothing and bags, I'd tried everything and my last option was to use Mystery Auction, so I gave it a go and it worked, I got rid of my dead end stock and made far more than if I had sold them seperately (and believe me I tried!) on Ebay.

You have to be cute with your listing though, sorry creative I mean!

Your response was very helpful. One more question: I read a lot about how to make a mystery auction. The main "rule" is that you have to have feedback from other mystery auction winners to get high bids. I have only 39,(100%)positive feedback reports on ebay, but none are for mystery auctions. How important is this?

Not really, I personally dont think feedback is in the equasion.

Ive seen mystery auctions from sellers with 40 feedback! Give it a go.

Can I suggest that best way to get bidders is to get on Ebays Pulse, then people from other sites will contact you telling you that they have featured your listing, in turn they are using you and Ebay to get traffic to their site....but it gets more people watching your auction and therefore more bids!

Good luck.
