I have recently launched a new website ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members**
My question is this; when I log into OScommerce and see whos online I regularly see people browsing the site and putting items in the shopping cart. However, they never(or at least rarely) complete the purchase. I have checked the system completely and there is no technical reason for this (I use paypal to accept c/cards and have checked everything is ok). To make a purchase the customer must create an account. Do you think this is causing them to back out of the purchase? If so how do I set it up to take orders without creating one? as I dont see that option in OScommerce.

I don't know about the options but I do know that a lot of people do shop and see what the final price would be before buying, sometimes they think the shipping may be too high or they see how much they do want to buy. I know that when I made a purchase to order some sunglasses I think I played with the cart for at least an hour and didn't order for 3 more days because I was seeing what my options were. I did like the fact that I could order through them without having to create an account to complete the order. I know that I will buy from them again so I did create one but I liked the fact that I could order without creating one.

You will find this to be very true. When I shop online I add items to the shopping cart all the time. Then check another site and do the same. Its basically window shopping. If you can find a way to entice your buyer during the shopping cart checkout your window shoppers will become buyers. Like include shipping discounts for multiple purchases or Free stuff with purchase.
