Pricing an item question

Pricing an item question

There are four costs envolved in computing the selling price on Ebay.
1. Insertion fee.
2. Value fee.
3. Cost of item.
4. Shipping.
This is using 'dropshipping' and not warehousing anything.

The first three I can figure.
You know your supplier's zipcode.
How do you figure shipping when you do not know where your buyer is?

Any ideas?

If the dropshipper you use has a flat shipping fee you can use that as a reference for your shipping charge. If not you will have to work out the shipping on your own based on the weight of the parcel in question. First you need to know the location of the dropshipper and use thier zip code as a starting point. Then setup automatic shipping quotes based on the weight of the item your selling. For dropshipping its a real pain in the rear since you dont have the package in hand to figure in your shipping. There might be some others here that have figured thier own way of figuring in shipping for a dropship company.

I took the zip code of the supplier and calculated the furtherst point UPS delivers in the US. The weight is factored into the UPS price given by the supplier.
Now, I just hope it works. I'd hate to sell a few items only to find out I didn't get the shipping right and lose money.

Thanks for replying,
