Hi I'm currently selling some shoes on ebay. At first I didn't enable the pay immediately option and I got 2 sales within the first day of listing it. Now I've enabled the "pay immediately" option and I haven't sold any pair of shoes in almost a week. Do you think it's because I enabled this option? Please give me some advice, thanks

I don't personally request payment on sale as I feel it restricts the market, but I offer other payment options as well and base my decision on allowing a customer to buy, and then pay through whatever option they prefer.Marc Ransom

I unchecked the "pay instantly" option and I gave them 5 days to pay after winning the auction. Also, I'm a small time seller, I only sell a few shoes per month ( around 10). I was looking on ebay and they said it wasn't worth accepting credit cards if you're not planning on having a big business. Can you offer me some advice whether or not it's worth the extra fee to accept credit cards and other payment methods and how I would go about doing that? thanks
If I was to request instant payment upon sale then I would be restricting my sales to PayPal customers only.
I leave it the required period of 96 hours, send two payment requests within that period, then if no payment or correspondence is received I file an eBay dispute to reclaim the sale fees, and then block the bidder so they can't stuff me around again.

Hi wargamedt9644,Thanks for the advice. So in order to accept credit cards on ebay, is that something that's done via paypal or do I have to set up an account with a whole new website? Thanks
I tried searching for links to confirm any additional fees for sellers accepting credit cards and/or other payment options but I couldn't find any.
Personally, I think offering additional payment options is a good way to attract buyers - more options is often better! A number of people are not very keen on using PayPal these days due to their rising processing fees..:( So credit cards may be good for your listings whether your a small or big time seller, so long as you sell constantly not just whenever you feel like it.
Hope this helps.

You can accept credit card payments for your Internet merchant account directly through eBay checkout by setting up a Payflow payment gateway account. If you don't have an internet merchant account, you can also accept credit card payments through PayPal, Propay and most other payments processors.
