    Auction Sellers - Please read this!

    As we all know Ebay raised selling fees.
    However If you look around in any Auction or Sellers Forum you will find post about scams and frauds tricking sellers that are using ebay. With little or no action being taken by Ebay exempt raising the cost for us to sell on the site.
    The only way to stop this is to hit EBAY where it hurts MONEY
    Stop selling on ebay and start looking for another auction site.
    I will not lie to you this may be harder than it sounds.
    While I have found a few Auction sites that have promise none have the customer base that ebay does, Or the ones that do have rules like a seller has to have a store front, no droppshippers ect,
    This means that it will take a group effort to find and market an auction site and start getting a customer base moving to that site
    It would not hurt to find a way to tell ebay customers what is going on and why we the sellers are moving to another site
    I would ask the readers to
    1 Give their idea on this topic and what could be done
    2 If you have one list alternitive auction sites
    I have found one that seems to be good only I do not know what there sell rate is

    I'm with you on this, but I'm begining to dislike eBid already. Maybe in the furure eBid will gain me back but as for now, the search continues.

    I know that selling online is a great way to generate income, however did you know that most of the time you can generate nice income by advertising in the local paper? Greensheet has more than reasonable prices and its a free paper, so your consumer base is large. It's at every Walmart too, lotta foot traffic.

    There has been much discussion about this on the ebay seller forums.

    Alot of sellers have been pushing buyers to thier websites to sell thier products at a higher price and have turned quite a profit. I think I myself will be moving into that soon as well. But there will always be ebay. The size of the market your putting your products into is so much greater that I doubt Ebay will ever hurt for buyers.

    Microsoft is a Household name because almost every home has a product made by microsoft. Ebay is a Household name Everyone knows about Ebay.

    The sellers that pull out will in the long run probably hurt themselves. Its doubtfull that getting people to go somewhere else to sell will change ebay policy. If you think ebays fees are bad try selling your wares at a real auction.

    Because for every seller that leaves ebay there are 20 buyers moving into selling to replace them.

    I honestly dont think the prices are that bad. they can add up fast if you have alot of products listed like myself but you take that into account with your prices.

    Most of my items never get listed more then 2 times if they dont sell then I put them in a bulk lot and they Always sell. What you could do is adjust your shipping charge to include the fee you pay for listing the item. That way your listing fees are covered. Just dont tell anyone I told you that :roll:

    I know there are alot of people making money on ebay, but I don't see how. Unless you have a unique product you can't make any money. Ebay is too popular.

    Search for anything and you will come up with hunbreds of hits for things that everyone wants for nothing.

    There has got to be a better way of selling, and I'm open for suggestions.

    I have tried direct mailing with a dish network site I have with no response. Not sure if I'll go that route again.

    The net is ready for someting besides ebay and I'm looking for it.

    I currently sell in a saturated market. My profit per item is usually 2-5 dollars per sale. Its just based on how fast I can get rid of the products. The products I get are easy to aquire and sell fairly well. Even though there are probably 5000 other sellers doing the same thing. But I sell 150-200 Items a Month on average. In that area.

    I know alot of people prefer to sell only high value items with the biggest return. But you gotta understand that every venture you take on a place like ebay, you must research your selling area and see where it takes you. Took me a few trys to start making money. Actually a few years. I just started making decent returns in July. Im not making a fortune but im supplementing my 9-5 working income.
    I work part time in my town less then 30 hours a week on average and only make $450-$500 per week doing that. I make $300-$500 per week online and my online profits are just getting higher every month.

    If you want to make Money on ebay it takes time and patience. And trust me alot of patience. If you have little working capital to invest in then it will take more time.

    There are some good points here... and 'Jimmy_salehoo' makes a lot of sense lol and a decent amount of money too.

    My philosophy is you will never be able to source an unique product (unless you design it yourself) hence there will always be competition, whatever you are selling. The market for selling on Ebay is massive... and growing on a daily basis. Yes, Ebay is popular but it is that popularity which gives the massive volumes of traffic ... which you can tap into and convert to sales!

    The secret to success is to find your niche (it helps if it's something you are personally interested in or already knowledgeble about), obtain product/products at a price which facilitates a decent 'percentage' profit margin (i.e. it is better to make

    Trust me, you can generate a bunch of calls simply with the Ipods if they are cheaper than in the stores. There are many people who are struggling in life and dont use computers. There are many more still who hate technology. You never know for what reason someone isnt on ebay, whether they dont want to learn about computers because its too complicated for them, or they would rather place thier trust in someone local and not have to wait as long for shipping. Maybe they got scammed online before and told themselves, 'Never again'. The list goes on and on. With this many reasons, I believe the offline market is wonderful. You can also use the phonebook as well, or just drive around your town and personally visit companies that sell your product, quote them, and you never know what may happen!

    I agree with Centercourp ... I live in a fairly small town outside of DFW Texas. People can't seem to 'find' things in stock here, like the XBox 360's Ipod's etc. But we have a huge supply of the hot seasonal toys...because they're not all that hot here. So I can mosey down to the local HUGE discount store and get items to sell to the 'big city folk' and leave homemade flyers that direct people to my site or they can call me for 'personal service' - for the items that we can't get at our local stores. It works out. Nice little swap.

    And yes, eBay fees and Paypal fees kill me whenever I see them. And people can be so so rude when it comes to feedback...I mean, every, every transaction is at the mercy of someone's perception...talk about being under the microscope. If there is any sort of problem it's broadcast to the world and people take that so seriously...and problems do arise. That burns me more than the fees...

    I personally plan to start a virtual store. I may start on ebay to make some start up money, but I want my OWN site and I will advertise it as best I can and hopefully have customers shopping that way over time. Of course ebay is always there as a sfety net until it can take off. I'd rather pay $30 a year to have a website then, $1.00 or more to list on ebay.

    Thats actually a great idea, however its more work than it may seem. I have a website, Centercorp.net, but its not actually up yet. I still have to setup secure payments and all. Its kinda exciting now that I think about it! I would suggest going to link hidden for a domain, that's what I use.

    You can try a specialized hosting service to setup a web store. I used to sell alot on My own website. I only gave up because It was such a pain in the butt to keep myself in the top 40 searches on the web browsers at the time. But that was in the very early days of ebay before I started to sell on ebay. And before Google Keywords Came out =)

    I used link hidden at the time. And they helped me setup my store fast. With payment processing to boot.

    I am getting tired of ebay, the cost are getting
    to me. Sometimes I list items 3-4 times and get nothing....So recently I switch over to U-bid, now I'm getting sales daily....Its a bit different than ebay because they advertise 100% fraud free....They handle the credit card charges and send you a check 2 times a month. There no charges unless you sell the item. You can use as many pictures as you want. You control the lisitings time. No questions on shipping charges, you set your own starting price and buy now price.....its simply that much better....

    PS: Still use ebay, but not as much,just to keep it active.... Recently sign-up for e-bid but results have been Zero....I think e-bid is for the UK mostly...live Auctions-(Zero) Live Deal(Zero) Ez-Bid (zero) i-offer (totally a waste of time)

    Alot of sellers will list over 1000 items just to sell a few hundred. the more you have out there the more attention you will generate to your other auctions.
