    Best Sites To Sell On

Hi, I'm totally 100% fed up with eBay. They have the absolute worst customer service department in the world. I sold an item to a customer, shipped it, they got it, and I never got a payment from them. eBay didn't do anything about it. I had to wait over 2 weeks to get a response about an issue I was having. They've suspended my account for a year or more because they have no clue what they're talking about. They charge a lot to sell items. I just can't express myself about how terrible eBay is. So, I hoping that someone could give me some good websites that still have a lot of traffic and have lower / no listing fees n such. I found these sites in another post, but there wasn't really any info. on them.

    Hello,

May I ask why did you ship the product before receiving the payment? .That is probably why ebay will not help.

    Thanks,

    Don

Bonanzle is one of the fastest growing ebay alternatives, if you can call it that, and you feel that solid traffic flow isn't far away.....just not at that point yet.

That being said, zero listing fees and really inexpensive final sale fees make it a platform that anyone in on-line sales should be using just as an exercise in market coverage!

Yeah, but what I'm looking for is an actual auction site like eBay.

There isn't....Sadly worldwide the other alternatives are millions of members and millions less page views than Ebay. The viable alternatives are not auctions at present as time will need to be taken to get their numbers anywhere near what Ebay has.

You can look at classifieds or craigslist or Amazon.com but best out of these is probably your local classifieds. You are going to have to wait probably 5 years plus before any of the Ebay alternatives get any where near the traffic needed to take on Ebay (The Dark Side of the Force). Pain in the butt...Trust me we ALL know.

Another alternative is what a friend of mine former Ebay Power seller did and yes he had the spare cash but hey save up.

He bought a reliable mailing list and direct mailed his ebay store newsletter and got some strong results. Even start your own web site any thing other than that your guess is as good as mine.

Re: Best Sites To Sell On

been on ebid.net for a week and going to have my first sale at auction tomorrow. you can list here for free but your final value fee is around 5% (I think) but if you want the most savings you can joining for $50 (for life!) and list for free all you want with the same features as ebay and sell minus 2% final value fee (for life!!). im also getting a bucket load of traffic here too. one site compared their membership and traffic second to ebay. thats NOT bad

Still have only sold 1 thing on bonanzle. anybody know what im doing wrong here?

Also dug into upillar.com some more and they are advertising on radio stations around the country so they are at least trying hard. and it is a craigslist format but the searches are national, not just for a city which is a feature i just wish craigslist even offered, plus it is FREE. ill keep posting about this one.

here's an angle im working... everybody wants online this and online that... get some good old fashioned business cards made that has your seller ID and the sites you sale on and go fishing for repeat business with your email address and phone number. just tuck them in with your order and let it fly!

Re: Best Sites To Sell On

It is a good idea, and has been used for quite a few years, however you may find an even better idea to formulate a monthly or
by-monthly e-newsletter for your customers, or even a combination of both.

There are two forms of marketing, pro-active and re-active.

A business card is considered re-active as it can only bring you return business if your customer is actively searching for a product he thinks you may well have. Your card reacts to their requirements at the time by leading them back to you to fill that requirement.

Impulse purchasing makes up a massive amount of the average persons spending habits, and a proactive e-newsletter lets you get your message in front of their eyes constantly, and gives you the opportunity to create an impulse purchase.

You can show your customer's new stock, offer specials......even competitions for purchasing within a time certain frame, whatever! All of these techniques are proven impulse sale techniques, and can increase your bottom line with minimum effort.

Customers are also more inclined to forward an email to a friend if they think they may find it useful, where as a business card won't be given unless a friend asks!

A business card won't put your name in front of their eyes as much as you need to be to really create return business, if that is your aim.

Of course if you have stagnant stock and nothing new to offer, then you're wasting your time even with business cards, unless you are selling every day consumables.

The aim of marketing is to get your name and your products in front of as many people as possible, and keep it there as much as possible!

Choose the more aggressive pro-active marketing techniques over re-active techniques, and you give yourself the best possible chance of increasing your profits.

Don't think for a minute that because you don't consider yourself a business that you can't use business type marketing, it's what makes private sellers successful.

Plenty of email options, constant contact is quite a good one, but plenty of other. I would always suggest using HTML, not simply text. You are trying ton create desire and a really high impact platform has a much better chance of delivering that message effectively.
