eBay Feedback - Why are buyers not giving any?

    Hi Folks.

What are you suppose to do when you sell on eBay, deliver as promised, give a positive feedback, in short be a good eBayer for sales, and the customer does not give you a feedback?

Even after emailed requests I get ignored. 3 Sales in the last few days no feedback.

    Frustrating.

Just the nature of the beast, beachdisney. Nothing to do about it really. I always make sure to put a gentle reminder in the invoice & thanks letter I send to buyers, but beyond that I typically don't puruse those who don't leave feedback -- over and above just generally being too much effort for too little result, if you push hard enough it's not unheard of for buyers to complain to eBay (dig around the eBay forums and you'll find numerous threads where sellers are grousing about a buyer complaining over asking for feedback. It's absurd, but then so are buyers, as a general rule of thumb.)

I love the DSRs, as I mentioned in an old thread here. The first non-perfect DSR I ever got was for my shipping -- the item was shipped more than 24 hours sooner than the stated shipping time in the listing, and the price the buyer paid for the shipping was less than the actual cost of postage, to say nothing of packing, time consumed etc. yet he rated the shipping part of our transaction as below expectation. You just have to laugh at it sometimes.

    Hi beachdisney and Frank,

This is a sad reality for many sellers - customers not leaving any feedback :(

@Frank: I agree with your suggestion about sending a little reminder and thank you note :)

The key there is to engage an open line of communication with your customer. Like when you've received their payment and sent out their item. You could send them a short email thanking them for buying/paying for the item and reassuring them that you have mailed their order and they should get in a the next "certain number of days".

And if you should add thank you notes to your parcels, make them hand written giving it a personal touch! Many customers will appreciate this too!

Unfortunately only the customer knows if they will leave a feedback or not, but at least from your end you know that you are not lacking in the effort of receiving it!

    Cheers :)

The topic is sellers not giving feedback, not the other way around.

    Hi goofgeef,

Sorry about the confusion, I have updated the title.

The thread is actually about customers (buyers) not giving feedback. If you can please refer to the first post by beachdisney.

    Cheers :)

Re: eBay Feedback - Why are buyers not giving any?

    Hi everyone...
We have found that getting good eBay feed back goes hand in hand with top shelf personal customer service.
Allways stay in contact with the customer, 100% of the time. Customers seem to feed on this today, because it is so lacking in retail business in general.
Tell the customer their order is processed as soon as you place the order. Tell them when and how they can expect their merchandise.
Make sure to supply tracking numbers when you are able to..this is important.
Be sure to post you telephone number on your site..customers do call to see if you are real.
Most of all, keep your contact with your customer personal, keep it tight, show an interest if they talk about some problems. Gaining their trust is all too important..especially in todays predatory retail world.
Doing these things will get you feedback...good feedback.
Remember..it's all about the customer and giving them the best customer shopping expierence possible.

    Have a Blessed evening everyone..
