Re: Has anyone worked with Doba?

I do know people have tried Doba, but popular opinion seemed to be that it wasn't a good eBay option at all, just too expensive. I think the ones that do ok from a supplier like Doba are those selling from their own platform.

Re: Has anyone worked with Doba?

Do you know where I can find a dropshipper for Cell phone and Cameras besides these guys: link hidden cause apparently you have to be at the top of the top to work with the guy I spoke with, Eric Pong told me he would love to work with me as soon as I become a Powerseller on ebay so until then I need to find someone else, any suggestions please?

It's an interesting thing for Eric to say actually. Why not turn that around on him and offer to sell his products EXCLUSIVELY should he provide you with his best prices.

No competition from other suppliers on your site means more potential sales for him. Most suppliers want to make money, sometimes you just need to show them a plan of how you are going to do that for them, and you'll get some serious interest from them.

    : )

    Thanks Marc,

I will ask him and by exclusively do you mean that I sell his products only on my ebay? Also in the meantime do you know of any other cell phone supplier who sells AUTHENTIC phones. Thank you :)

Yes, setting up an exclusive deal with him would mean that you only offered his products. That doesn't mean that is all you can sell on your site, it just means that you will not offer competing products against those you list of his.

For example, mobile phones, you would only list phones from him, however if you sold baby seats and didn't source them from him, then you would be free to list from as many suppliers as you wanted.

You can also choose to set up a separate account for his products only if you feel it is worth it, and then build your branding around his genre of products, if specific enough to effectively brand.

The thing is with a lot of suppliers, they do tend to get a lot of inquiries, and not all of them are genuine. Plenty of time wasters around, and while they shouldn't, some will assume you are a time waster if you don't show a proven record of sales.

In these cases it is always a good idea to show them a plan, a basic business plan in essence. If you show them HOW you feel you can effectively market their products well, then they will see that you are genuine, and even though you don't have many sales under your belt, they will see that you have some firm ideas on how you will be moving forward, and that is something a genuine supplier will be interested in getting on board with.

Doba is really easy, your search yields products rather than suppliers because doba is the middleman. You order directly from doba making it faster and easier but commonly higher priced. The recurring monthly fee of 50+ is the deal breaker for me.

Doba is actually a good drop shipping service and easy to integrate with eBay, but it is a bit expensive. Also dropshipping requires you to pay a small fee on top of the wholesale cost of the product to cover the drop shipper's time spent packaging and posting the item. This additional cost can make significant inroads into your profit margins and it is not always the best way to make money in the long term.

That's not to say that drop shipping is a bad idea altogether. It is a simple way to start a business, and in the long term, having some of your inventory drop shipped allows you to offer a broader range of items to your customers without the risk of holding stock.

However, the online retail market is very competitive and business owners usually need to buy a significant proportion of your inventory in bulk from liquidators and wholesalers to ensure that you get maximum profit margins on each item.

    Cheers :)
