    Importance of having a good website

    Lot of online sellers have their own websites. Many have their own brick and mortar store, many uses dropship sources for inventory.

    I was doing a research on dropship websites recently on Google. Almost all the dropship websites I found plainly sucks in design as well as site architecture.

    I am not really any expert in dropshipping, very new in this; to be honest trying to get a grasp of it. Lot of folks here got very good knowledge on this field; question to them-Do you think a good site plays significant enough role establishing the business?

    Hi you sound like you know a bit about drop shipping , i have found product now how do i get company to let me sell it ,do i need a web page, do i need tax id how do i set up my shop. i really need help thanx

    I think the website plays a very important role, it's your show room. Take a look at how a good business sets out their show room, it's all designed to display the products they sell in the best possible light.

    One of the biggest mistakes people make in online sales is not treating it like a business. It is a business, but they don't place anywhere enough importance on important aspects of the business.

    If you want to know how to sell a product online, take a look at a really well thought out offline business structure. While there will be plenty that is not relevant to an online format, there will be plenty that is!!

    Hi basicly, i bought salehoo i thought this would give me the answers but im stuck i dont know if im meant to call up the company and ask them if i could sell there product is that the right proceedure ,and do i need web page and id before i call company thx so much

    webcosmo - I agree that a good website makes all the difference. Imagine how many websites you have been to that you would never buy from either because they look dodgy or just look unprofessional. Most buyers think the same as you do! A good site also makes the difference in contacting suppliers as hotmail email accounts scream fly by night.

    Deb - most companies websites will have their wholesale information somewhere on there. It will either say the information you need to give them or the contact details for their distributer in your country. Its fine to contact them now to ask about selling their products before you have a website as they will usually still give you the information if you say your are in the process of setting one up.

    Hi Deb,

    Can you tell me what the product is, and is the supplier an actual drop shipper or are you wanting to sell a product that is not available from a drop shipper.

    You can PM the details if you want to keep the specifics quiet, but the more details I have the advice I can provide.

    I used to work for a big online seller who also got a very famous brick and mortar store; they makes about 1.5 Million usd per year. Most of us can't compare ourselves with this scenario, unless we do have a physical store. Most of us here are to find out products from somebody else.

    Bottom line is if we do have a physical store, we can make our chances better if we have a better designed, planned online store, proper inventory.

    I don't have knowledge on inventory, but from my little experience I can suggest these:
    - Canceled orders because of the out-of-stock is a big problem. This may ruin the reputation very fast.
    - Good customer service is very important.
    - Buying price is the key to determine profit.

    I am making my own web store now. Really hoping to learn about product sourcings from the experienced folks here. After all we don't wanna reinvent the wheel.

    What is brick and mortar store?

    I have been planing to have my own online store for a long time.

    I have looked at some company including Volusion, core commerce, saleHoo store and some website building company. There are some hidden cost with corecommerce that was a bit risky and too expensive to start with.
    Volusion have some very demanding representative that they intent to make me sign up at the same time. I'm not sure about them.
    I'm still not sure about saleHoo store.

    To have my store build by a local company will cost me up to $3000 to $4000

    Has anyone got any idea of any other company or that is reliable and affordable to help me build a online store?

    Bricks and mortar is the term used for an actual shop, as in one you can walk into and do your shopping, not an online shop.

    In regards to developing your own site, there are free options that may well suit you better at this point. Being free, they are limited in what they offer, however some are excellent value (being free)

    I would suggest checking out zencart, I've used that in the past myself and was seriously impressed in what it offered for zero dollars.

    If you decide to have something custom built from the ground up, I am happy to pass on the contact details of the developer that I use. While any site developed from scratch is going to cost you, he does quality work and it won't be priced in the thousands as your other quotes.

    Just give it all some serious consideration You would need to set out an exact model in print so he could quote accurately for you if you did decide to get your own developed.

    I had the same experience as you using volusion, I am now half way through my big commerce trial and the site is pretty much ready to go! I have been really impresses with them. If you search for volition reviews, get past the first dew which are obviously affiliates and you will find hundreds of actual long term users who are very unhappy. Try a free trial with big commerce.
