  HI, JUST WANTED TO GET A LITTLE FEEDBACK INTO SOMETHING THATS BEEN PUZZLING ME FOR SOME TIME. IVE NOTICED THAT ALOT OF SELLERS HAVE SEVERAL IDS TO MATCH THE CAT. OF THE PRODUCTS THEY ARE SELLING. THEN AGAIN, SOME SELLERS USE THE SAME IDS TO SELL ALL KINDS OF PRODUCTS IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT CATS. WICH IS THE BEST METHOD?

  I also posted a similar question on another another topic but didn't get a response. From what I have learned from a few people is making more than one ID is good for those in the niche markets. If your selling a variety of items I would break them up into specific markets and create a catchy ebay ID that buyers can easily remember and draw more reputation too. But im still some confused on this one too and I hope someone will pop in on this soon to help us out.

  i hope someone answer this better than me but if you sell alot of different things say like computer stuff and clothing then yea it would be wise to use a gerenal id but if you just want to sell say laptops only then i would only make a id that relates to that item. just like you dont go into bestbuy to buy t-shirts.

  Pros and cons on both sides, but looking at it from a marketing perspective, a single id would be what most consultants would suggest in my opinion.
  
  Cross marketing is a very effective form of marketing, it's what major department stores are built on. Customer comes in looking for a shirt, may not be interested in a TV, but then again they just might or they might know someone that does and so on.
  
  It works the same way online, the idea is to get maximum exposure for your marketing efforts, and that means if you have everything listed under a single id, all your traffic is being directed to one location where they can see everything you have.
  
  You start splitting accounts, your marketing effort just got a lot harder because now while you maybe generating the same amount of traffic, they aren't all seeing what you have available.
  
  Sometimes people treat ebay accounts like pets, they don't want to keep their dog with the cat, and the cat can't be in with the bird and so on. It's a business, and if you are making decisions based on personal taste and not sound marketing then you are running the risk of harming your own business.
  
  This reminds me when having 32 page websites was all the rage, no one wanted to troll through 32 pages of what amounted to garbage. People want quick, and informative information when shopping online, the moment you start making it difficult for them to find what you have, the moment you start making it difficult for yourself!

  THANKS TO ALL, YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST. I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT THIS FORUM IS THE ONLY REASON I EVEN FOOL WITH SALEHO, DONT GET ME WRONG , WHEN I BOUGHT IN IT LOOKED PROMISEING, BUT SENCE ITS BEEN A DISSAPOINTMENT. I MEAN COME ON ITS THE SAME OLE SAME OLE YEAR AFTER YEAR. BUT THATS NOT WHAT THIS IS ABOUT. AND FUDJJ, THANKS, THAT IS WHAT I THOUGHT ALSO, I MEAN THE FEEDBACK ITSELF WAS ONE MAJOR CONSIDERATION. IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE 1000 LISTINGS ,WHY NOT GET ALL THE FEEDBACK ON ONE ID

  What Fudjj said is right but the other side of the coin is this.
  
  For a couple of years I sold for a collectibles shop. I also sold computer stuff out of a another account and had a third account which was the first account I ever created on eBay.
  
  Sometimes people like it that you just sell a certain type item and only that. They may even feel betrayed that someone may be selling other stuff. They may feel that you are not doing one thing and putting all your attention on one thing.
  
  Also, I sold a lot of the knick knack/ collectibles at .99 starting bid where my computer stuff was fixed rate and sometimes as much as three or four hundred dollars.
  
  They both had different layout and feel and I didn't want my customers to become confused.
  
  And now the final reason for the other side of the coin is this. With how eBay can be sometimes-fickle and brutish, you want to sometimes let an account rest for awhile.
  
  If you get hit with a bot warning or VERO complaint, you can drop that account for awhile and sell on another account. This takes the attention off one for awhile until the dust settles.
  
  It s not that we are doing something bad or wrong but eBay can be insane sometimes. I got two complaints because I listed an item with civil war pictures in it and didn't put a disclaimer that it wasnt actually from the civil war. But see the funny thing is, I did put the disclaimer in. But when I went to reply I kept getting bot replies to my reply.
  
  So I let the account kool off because 3 complaints in a time span and your suspended for a month.
