I don't plan on giving up on eBay. I'm doing fairly well, actually. However, I have a few 'niche' ideas with few sellers to compete with. The problem is that there are no other sellers because the competition's prices are so low.

What products are you trying to sell? This is a huge factor in determing whether or not you can make a profit.

Well, one product is a certain company's backpack for hiking. I know what they sell for in stores. I know what they sell for online. I know what I can buy them for. I know that there is NO WAY I could even compete with people on eBay.

Well there is also the possibility that the items being sold on ebay are Overstocks. If the manufacturer made lets say 100,000 units for a retailer and the retailer cancelled the order. Then they have a mass overstock on the product. Normally they liquidate overstocks and try to recoup some of thier losses.Wholesale Directory by SaleHoo

I have run across this before myself. A good deal at times is hard to pass up ... Some buyers also go into joint agreements and buy in even larger bulk .... ALso I have seen the closout idea come into play also .... Just bought a new tv that was overstock .... I paid the vendors price for the item .... They had a new model just going into production and had to get rid of the extra inventory ....

Well for one thing the nokia model you are looking for is still a hot item. So it will be much harder to find a good price on the item. Items like the apple iphone are still selling above retail. So finding a wholesaler will be impossible at best.Wholesale Directory by SaleHoo

Its also possible that if they are not overstocks, they are simply knock-offs or remakes of the backpacks.
