I can see the issue, you are listing items for 0.99cent auctions and then have $125+ Postage and Handling charges.
I can tell you now people are going to avoid those. I do.

I suggest working out the absolute minimum you will accept on them and put that as your starting bid with say a $10 P&H (or free even) if you wish to do it auction.

Otherwise list them as a Buy It Now as a price you feel appropriate either including P&H so it can be listed as "free" or have it as a marginal extra.

    Hi Raraz,

I'll go over your listings and give you some feedback on some ideas on how you can improve tomorrow afternoon, sorry, just not enough time at the moment.

The point vichardy makes about the shipping is spot on. Very old technique where the devil used to be in the detail, used to be quite effective a few years ago, however times have changed. Not only are buyers a lot smarter now, you can actually be reported to ebay for over priced shipping costs as it is a policy violation.

I would be preferring to pull those listing down if I were you, because the chances are someone will file a report with the prices you have.

We'll take a closer look at this for you tomorrow and see what we can come up with to get you moving in the right direction.

OK, now a few ideas on how you can improve your listings.

I found the listings description to be quite informative, however I would suggest setting it out a little better. Some spacing here and there can encourage a customer to read it, where as a lot of that is in block, and quite over whelming.

The images themselves are also an area where I would be looking at improving. Unfortunately they scream Drop Shipped product to me, and most ebay buyers these days are very aware of drop shippers and will avoid them if they possible can.

As a buyer, the last thing you want is to be buying form someone who has no control over what you get and when you get it. Of course a buyer wants to deal one on one so if there is a problem, they can get a straight answer and not some run-a-round while the drop shipper is giving the seller the run-a-round.

I would be looking at other image avenues to make it appear that the product is yours, and yours alone. If you do want to use their images with that branding style, than I would suggest you could develop your own template with a very similar branded theme so as the images matched, and then the drop shipping aspect wouldn't be pulled into such strong focus.

Of course the item location is also a give away as to the product being drop shipped, but a better branded template of better images can deflect a customers attention away from that.

Watch your pricing model. As said, that has the very strong potential to not only get you negative feedback, but to have a report filed to ebay for excessive shipping charges.

Have you researched the products you are trying to sell at all, or just testing your luck?

They over price their item, so I have to charge shipping on my end also. If I put regualar buyit now price and free shipping for all 4 items. You know the fee for ebay. and if I don;t sell. lose on fee's. Do u know any other good items I can sell on ebay that I can put as $0.99 and put the shipping lilke $10-20. to get by the ebay fee.

    thanks

    Hi raraz,

If you haven't already, try doing the following to see what are considered as hot items on eBay, that way you know you are selling the 'IN' products.

    1) Check out the popular searches and most popular products on eBay:

    Popular searches: link hidden

    Best selling products: link hidden

    eBay pulse: link hidden

    2) Perform completed listings searches for products or brand names to see the conversion rate and average selling price.

To do a completed listings search, simply click the Advanced Search button next to the main eBay search box. Enter your search keywords as usual, and then check the Completed Listings box. Hit search and you'll see historical data for the previous 30 days. Successful items are in green; unsuccessful items are in red.

    Hope this helps :)

Richelle has given you some good free research tools to give you an idea of what is selling, but if you wanted to pay a little and step up to something like Terapeak, that can often prove to be invaluable as an ebay research tool.

Doesn't matter what the product is, listing it at 0.99 is always a risk, but it's a risk that can pay off for you if the market is there.

I deal in Video Games on ebay and all my auctions are set at 0.99 to drive traffic to the store. I've sold games for that $0.99 on auction that I have listed, and have sold in the store for 35 and 40 dollars at other times.

It's all a game of strategy, and different strategies work for different products an different markets. Sure, there are some cookie cutter strategies that work on certain levels for any product, but the difficult part of sales, especially online sales, is developing the most effective strategy for your market.

Re: Why aren't my eBay items selling? Please look

I recieved your PM and after looking into your ebay page, you have nothing listed. When I started out, I had a mix of everything, tools, toys, homegoods etc. and I just listed for days on end, the most I have had at once is about 300, but run an average of about 250 listings. A lot was luck, the right stuff at the right time, toys really picked up before christmas, we were shipping out about 5-10 a day. Immediately after, however, sales dropped to nothing for a good 3 weeks, and then I had one sale and a few more...Now I am back to about 0-3 a day. A couple of weeks ago I listed a bunch and things really picked up again. As of yesterday, with the new fee structure, the hubbs and I are re thinking a lof of our listings and might be looking into moving out of the ebay since the fees are really taking a toll on things that I have had listed so many times. One thing I always say is that there is a large learning curve to this. If you want to see some of what I sell, don't have a lot right now since we were looking into options with the new fees, my ebay id is masterdjbuster (yes I know we should change it, its husbands ebay profile...lol)...

    New ebay fees?
I didn't see any mention of them changing... Ugh.

But I agree the fees are STEEP!
I'd try auctions8 out more but I just really Really REALLY dislike the current design of it. Feels way too cluttered to be conductive to effective sales.

If one is not selling DVDs Books or electronics the FVF is 12%. Plus Paypal makes it 15%.

Ebay has made it easier to list by making listing fees as low as 3 cents or 5 cents but has raised the back end.

So one has to change how they do business. You will find that there are much fewer free shipping listings.
