    Why do I only get 10 "research topics" per day?

    I've spent 2 days running all over this site, just to make sure I am not asking a question which has already been answered 100 times...........what the heck, let's make it 101 times!

    I was merrily doing product analysis searches, when this ominous message scrolled down (like it was sent from the Almighty in a big booming voice, or perhaps a burning bush) and reported that I had done 10 searches and that I couldn't do anymore than 10 and that I must now go stand in the corner for a timeout.

    I probably broke some Salehoo rule and will get bounced off this site by doing 10 searches. But honest, I may have done 10 searches, but I did them over a course of 3 days! I stood in the corner like any good Salehoo NewGuy would and have learned my lesson.

    How can I make nice with the Salehoo gods and do more "research analysis"?

    1. Wash Mark's car?
    2. Flowers and candy for Richelle?
    3. Throw an evil-doer supplier into a volcano?

    Well I can't speak for Richelle, although I would suggest she, or any other of our customer support team wouldn't say NO to chocolates or flowers.

    That said, I can speak on behalf of myself, and while I have no control over the set functions of the site, I wouldn't say no to a free car wash for sure if you're offering John :)

    In regards to what that message is all about, I've got absolutely no idea personally, but I will chase it up with admin for you, so you won't have to hold your breath too long ........ fingers crossed :)

    OK, word back from our department head is that there is, as you have correctly identified, a 10 search limit on the research tool. This limit automatically re-sets every 24 hours, and it re-sets from the time of your last search.

    So for example, if you create 9 searches at 11.58pm and then 1 at 12.04am the next day, your limit will re-set in 24 hours time from your 10th search, made at 12.04

    I'm not sure how accurate your 3 day assessment was in your post, I'm guessing it may well have just felt like 3 days. That said, if you have in fact done the searching over a period of 3 days, then we will have to bring it to the attention of the development team so they can look into it.

    I'll just wait until I get confirmation from you that your 10 searches were well outside of the set 24 hour period and getting closer to 60 hours before I get the development team involved :)

    Mark,

    Here are the facts as I know them:

    1. Became a member on 1/12/2012...around 2:00 p.m. PST
    2. After noodling around the site, came across "research labs" link.
    3. Already had 1 "product analysis" for Vera Bradley (it was a pre-loaded test so I could see how the link worked, I assume?).
    4. Did a few more "product analysis" during the next couple of days and thinking: "I'm getting the hang of this, no worries".
    5. Day 3: spent most of the day just reading threads and posts and redirects and AY AY YI......eyeballs are falling out of their sockets!
    6. Day 4: Okay, lets get serious! In the span of 1 hour I did a lot of "product analysis". Last search done approximately 7:00 p.m. PST
    7. Day 5: Ominous message.

    If I somehow get back on by 7:00 p.m. PST 1/17/2012, I will let you know, but it sure seems like I have a running total of "research analysis" from the day I signed up?

    Yep, drop me PM if there are any issues with the search not re-setting after 7pm, maybe give it till 7.30 to be sure. If there is an issue with the re-set, I'll get it passed straight onto the development team so they can step in a sought it out.

    If anyone else is experiencing similar, also drop me e PM. If we have a problem, we need to ensure it is fixed asap.

    I can tell, because customer service is my real hot button. Too many companies these days make a person feel like you are doing THEM a favor, by using them.

    I have read enough threads and responses to see that you guys are like BAM!......right on top of the issue. That's awesome!

    On behalf of all of the customer service team, we appreciate that John. We are very strong on customer service because we have all had many really bad experiences ourselves, so there is always a strong focus for us.

    I agree with Marc, flowers and a box of chocolates would definitely make me smile!

    I think there will be an update soon about how you can do more than 10 searches per day, not sure when yet but just keep an eye.

    I have been a member of salehoo for 3 days - in that time I have done maybe 6 research topics --- none of these searches have produced any research data (even though each topic shows sales data on Terapeak). I read this forum this morning to see if i was doing something wrong. Left forum and tried a topic and got the limit of 10 message

    John has confirmed for me this morning that the auto re-set is working fine, in fact it re-set to the minute, using his words.

    You don't seem to be 100% in regards to the actual amount of searches you have made, so I would suspect that you made just a few more than you realized and that is what has seen the limit set.

    Give it the 24 hours now and you will see the search limit re-set itself.
