Finding the Legal Owner of a Website

If you come across a specific site that has unbelievable deals or just seems too good to be true with their prices, you can do a whois search on the website address and get the lowdown on the registrants. Find out who registered it, where it's registered, and how long it's been operational.

It's not a guaranteed way to tell if a supplier is legit but it can tell you if the company has been around for a while.

So far this is the best search I know of.
    link hidden

Just enter the URL of the website in question and shazam! Info at your fingertips.

not sure if i'm allowed to post here, but i use link hidden

if you put the domain in at the end, it eliminates searching, but provides you with a lot of info

    eg. link hidden

It's not helping.....just to see whether the supplier is legit or not....

I think the sellers here are more desperate and concern about what products and how much they are able to buy enough to make themselves profitable....

Might be worth using. You get scammed once and you're going to have to do a lot of make up sales to recover. That's when you'll feel desperate.

In order to make a profit you must hand over your funds. Why give away free money? It's worth the few extra minutes. It sucks getting scammed. Scammers depend on people that dislike researching. They claim prey to people looking for good prices and legit suppliers. I know we all want to find good sites with profitable goods. In some cases we will find those suppliers. Though once we find the site we must check on the suppliers before making a buy. Especially if we can't talk to them in person. Just my boring old two cents.

Hi there.. If you are able to spend $250 for that site, I recommend you join worldwide brands instead. They look very pro and legit for the price. And I think they are the best site for wholesaler directory... (sorry SaleHoo, you are the best too. :)) I'm happy I had joined. It's opened more doors for me.

whois information is not always true.

If you have registered a domain, you will know that you can input any whois information as you want.

How to know where is the business really based?

BBBonline, famous SSL seals, Truste seals can tell you the truth. They will verify the business owner's DBA, telephone bills, and sometimes they will call the wired phone number to verify all.

Hi i am new to this and so far not having any luck. Has anyone tried simplx.com? It has a min. $250.00 to join. They claim this is all of the ebay powersellers source. Can anyone help please? I ran company through bbb and there was alot of complaints and they are not registered. But I really want to get started here. Thanks, Heather
My opinion of simplx.com is to Stay Away!! All they give you is a big list of retail sites like WalMart, Target, etc. You will pay the same as anyone else that can type Walmart.com into the computer and even pay sales tax on the purchase. When you click to go to the stores through the simplx site what you get is a percentage back from the purchase ex. at Walmart.com you would get 8% cash back, at another maybe 4% etc. This cash back goes into your acct. and they will send you a check after it adds up to $50 or more.
They also go by the name link hidden as well as a few others. All are run by the company, Simplex Technologies or something like that, out of Utah. It's maybe possible to make $ but very hard to sell products that anyone can buy off of Walmart etc. at just about the same price. I have dealt with them and have reported them to bbb. Just my 2 cents, Jack

I placed an order from link hidden on the 12th Nov, I sent them several emails to check the order status, which they said will be sent within 7 days, but they never got back to me. I am so worried, is there anyone here who has traded with them before? What should I do???

I wasn't aware there was a way to rank these folks. How do I find out. That would solve a lot of problems for me.
    Thanks

Re: Finding the Legal Owner of a Website

Ratings are more based on professional review sites. Unfortunately I dont think you can really rate a wholesale list company on more then anything other then the size of thier database.

Most of the complaints we get are from people that either do not understand the market they are trying to sell in or just have no idea about the differences between Retail, wholesale, liquidations and dropshipping. Some call us fakes because they cannot find a certain supplier. This is mainly because they try to compare wholesale prices to ebay selling prices. When they find out the truth they think we tricked them.

The compliments we get come from members that have actually studied the forums and have learned the tricks of the trade and realize that the best way to make money online is to gain knowledge from the information in our forums. Many of those members not only create a new avenue of income, some actually make a full time living.

I got a free trial for a couple of days on simplx.com once. The price is the same as regular price. I wouldn't recommend it! :-(

My best resource for checking online biz so far is link hidden
They have a wayback option and you can see exactly how long they been on the net. And what their website looked like at that time.
All with all kind of other info like links in and so forth.

I'm a power seller, and I only sell second hand, nothing new unless it comes from my Auction House, so NO, not all power sellers use Simplix, in fact I would be shocked if many actually did!

Re: Finding the Legal Owner of a Website

    Hi,

Just a quick response to the 'who is it' and other searches.

I had been scammed before and since then I have looked at and received offers from companies that look legit but when I checked the legal owner of the website, guess what? Huge similarities, from contact emails, to phone numbers and to the legal owner of the website.

I have passed this on to another person who got scammed by the same company as me and she also used it and in the past 24 hours found the same thing on 3 other companies contacting her.

These companies were thru Tradekey. They are stealing the id's of legit companies and directing you to websites that look very professional and sometimes even using same address etc.

We think these are the same people and so far have posed as about 5 or 6 legit companies on Tradekey.
