    Liquidation.com Question...

    When bidding on an auction on liquidation.com and win, do I pay any additional fees other than the what I won the auction for and shipping? Will there be any other fees? Is it best to pay with paypal? Also are all the products on there authentic? I never dealt with this site before and wanted some advice please, are the cell phone lots on there a good idea to bid on, will they resell well on ebay or craigslist? Thanks!

    Liquidation.com is a directory of independent suppliers, offering their products in an auction format and it is possible to find a great mix of suppliers, some good while others may be not. It is a platform for buyers and sellers of clearance, end of the line, surplus, and overstock lots. Liquidation.com can provide a good source of inventory provided you find a reliable supplier.

    From the links provided, here are some important points shared by our members when dealing with Liquidation.com sellers/products -

    stay away from electronics esp ipods and game systems. stay away from returns and salvage cause they probably will not work as they are sold as is, read the terms and fine print.

    only buy where there is a detailed Manifest of the items- when people do not want to tell you in detail what you are getting there is often a reason

    Do your research on any seller you are thinking about bidding with.

    Make sure to check shipping cost PRIOR to place a bid. Also there is a 5% of winning bid for buyer's premium.

    What does 5% of winning bid for buyers premium mean?

    And why stay away from electronic? I was really interested in cell phones, what do you think?

    As a winning bidder, you pay the final auction price, a Buyer's Premium, and appropriate shipping fees, which are collected by us prior to goods being shipped from the seller's location.

    What is a Buyer's Premium?
    A Buyer's Premium is a standard auctioneering fee that helps cover the cost associated with sourcing products, marketing auctions, running the marketplace and managing services such as payment collection, fulfillment, shipping and inspection. Unless otherwise stated in the auction, our standard Buyer's Premium is 5% of the final bid price.
    To stay away from electronics is the general advice when you deal with liquidation, since if you are not aware of the different status of the products available thru this platform, you might receive 'returns' or broken stock which you will not be able to resell.

    Hi All,
    Ive had some good and bad deals with Liquidation.com. If you really want to buy on that site, you have to make sure you buy items NEW. Stay away from items marked RETURNS. As in the small print of that site, they state they cannot guarantee that these items work. I bought a whole box full of electronic goods from a RETURNS auction, and got them sent to Australia. The whole process took 3 weeks, and when they arrived, not one of the items worked. They were all returned to liquidation because they were faulty. Wont be doing that again. But on the other hand, i bought some other items NEW, again they took just over 3 weeks to arrive, and were perfect, sold them at a small profit. Not sure it was worth the 3 week wait though. The shipping on both auctions was $300 so that does eat into the old profit margin a tad, but at least i didnt loose any money.
