i cant seem to find anyone who sells ps3 in bulk does anyone know a good place to get them except places like this

No actually it costs $675.00 to manufacturer them. The blue ray drive alone is $550 for sony. They are actually taking a big loss pushing the ps3 at the price they are. They are hoping to profit from the games and accessories.Wholesale Directory by SaleHoo

Yeah Sony isn't doing too well and is starting just like the Xbox all over again.
But while the PS3 may start off like the Xbox, its going to make a profit too just as the Xbox made and just as the Xbox is now in over 40 million something homes.
But at the start, PS3 will take a huge loss because it costs to throw in a hard drive, the accessories, the music player, and blu ray and everything.
It costs just slight more than an xbox to make.
And the Xbox 360 won't take that loss because its not and it doesn't cost as much and it is winning......but the 360 is the place to find Halo 3, DMC 4, GTA etc thats why its on top...
But sony and microsoft will be competing for a looooong time, not sure about Nintendo.....I just know sony knows what its doing its following the footsteps of microsoft, and knows it can make big money by taking a loss at first just like microsoft did and then raking in the online subscribers who pay for Sony Online and all those things.
They'll fight for number 2 and number 1 spot for a long time. -

Actually from what I hear even now the Ps3 is proving inferior to the xbox for one main reason.
They designed a basecode for game develpment that most of the big game manufacturers basically cant use. They will undoubtedly not be able to make as many or enough games to compete with the Wii or the Xbox 360 . The same killer hit games that come out are made using the same basecode. Since ps3's is so different the game manufactures have to rewrite the whole game using that programming language. And many of these manufactures have declined to make thier titles with ps3 support.
Basically the short amount of games that will be developed for the Ps3 will make this console just another expensive Blue Ray Player.
Due to the flaws of the designers and the people that pushed the ps3 into production this console will very doubtfully bring the profits they were hoping to achieve. Not to mention the first massive batches of ps3s have crashed or burned up costing the company millions in broken console returns.
Even today the Wii and 360 sales are stomping the ps3 into the ground.
Some fear that sony might not be able to cover thier massive losses. And they are already on the verge of financial destruction. They are loosing approximately $390.00 per unit! according to some articles.
Also there is a rumor that xbox 360 will be dropping thier prices to $199 and implimenting bundles for $400 that will include a premium 360 and Microsoft Zune.Wholesale Directory by SaleHoo

They can afford to take the hit because once the bugs are worked out and they get Sony Online up, they will make so much money its crazy.
I doubt Nintendo can afford the hit though they don't have over 40 billion something to invest like Sony (or Microsoft) but then again Nintendo is not competing for this market. They don't want the online world market etc etc.
My take on it is WII is going to stomp PS3 to bits in japan for the most part, 360 will do so so there, and PS3 will keep fighting for number 2 with the 360 in North America, Europe etc
And the war will get really bloody once Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII and all of that come out while t he 360 gets Blue Dragon 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean 4 and so on.
PS3 is harder to develop for but they gave all the devs the base code, and thats going to do good for Sony because they still have alot of Japanese RPG developers to carry them. 360 only has a few and until they do really good in japan I doubt they will catch up to Sony's market.
Edit: I will say this though.
I own a PS2 and Grand Theft Auto carried the playstation period. Final Fantasy carried it in japan, but the playstation 2 would n ever have sold nearly 198 million consoles or 200 million at all....
It would have capped at 90 million including replacement PS2s.
The reason the playstation 2 ever SURPASSED the userbase of the playstation 1 is because of one game series: Grand Theft Auto.
No other game series sold as much or sold as many ps2s........NONE
The rest practically suck if you want me to be brutally honest here........NONE of them are as good as Grand Theft Auto, not Final Fantasy, NONE.
The only reason of course PS2 lost the exclusive Grand Theft Auto franchise was it could make more money on more platforms including Xbox....and the developers wanted to.
PS2 up until that point was just the same average machine that survived in japan because of Final Fantasy alone......
GRAND THEFT AUTO MADE the playstation 2, and it makes any system it comes to......Its the most interactive game of all time.
GTA: Double Pack actually outsold Halo for at least a month and sold more copies than Rainbow Six and Halo COMBINED for at least a month straight that's unheard of. Everyone I know bought one.
And Microsoft courting Grand Theft Auto has only hurdled its sales upward, because it will be on 360 first, and if they could BUY and ensure its always exclusive along with Halo.........Sony would never catch up again.
Microsoft would steal Sony's REAL Halo once they took GTA.....Because GTA sold over 40 million PS2 consoles, and well over 70 million copies (including all versions) and it continues to sell like crazy today.....even on PSP. -

Well about sonys financial backing. Its no secret that Sony Has been facing severe financial problems. They are loosing money very fast.
They will survive but they will have to make drastic changes to do so.
The games market only makes up 14% of thier profit margin in thier console division. Right now they are getting stomped hardcore in japan and the US by nintendo. And Nintendo as you said might not have huge financial backing but they make total profits in everything they do.
From what I read the turnaround will be only and totally from
healthy sales of Bravia LCDs, Vaio computers and Handycam camcorders but not the playstation 3 ; the rest however is likely the result of new CEO Howard Stringer, who has stopped unprofitable businesses, fired workers, and shut down plants. The company is even selling its former Tokyo headquarters, which will recoup 59 billion yen ($492 million) by next March.

April 26, 2007 - Nintendo of Japan has announced that profits in the last financial year have jumped by a staggering 77% thanks to strong sales of both the Nintendo DS and Wii.
Nintendo reported a group net profit of 174.29 billion Yen ($1.47 billion) in the last fiscal year, a huge profit rise 98.38 billion yen compared to a year earlier.
Sales of consoles, particularly the DS and Wii, rose by 90% to 966.53 billion Yen ($8.13 billion), compared to 509.25 billion Yen for the same period last year.
More than 23 million DS systems were sold, along with 123m games. Since its release in 2004, the DS has sold 40m units worldwide. Meanwhile, although it was only released at the end of 2006, the Wii put in a strong showing, selling 5.84m units worldwide and 29m games.
For the next financial year Nintendo projects sales of 14m Wii consoles, along with 55m games. Nintendo expects to shift 22m DS units and 130m DS games.

Right, because Sony has many markets to choose from whereas Nintendo only has games aka DS etc.

And the PSP sales are doing very good too.
So I imagine it will fluctuate and playstation sales will pick up again when games like FF13 come out, but they won't catch Nintendo in japan, there's no way.
Plus Playstation no longer has Grand Theft Auto. So it will not sell as many consoles or even catch up to its userbase for a long long time, GTA will still sell on playstation. Just nowhere near the Halo level sales its always had since 2001.
Sony also can't really develop games that sell alot which is too bad, Microsoft has done better there by making Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge, Forza Motorsport etc.
Sony will always have Gran Turismo but then again they outsource that too. Forza is actually developed by Microsoft in-house while Project Gotham is outsourced to Bizarre according to what I read.
And if you can get a few million sellers, even Perfect Dark Zero to be first party games you have it made in profits in the long term. Sony has never really had big hits made exclusively by Sony.
They always relied on their third party software makers and Rockstar was actually the biggest, Rockstar gave Sony a percentage even though Squaresoft has been around longer. Rockstar made over a billion dollars in a single quarter, and gave a cut to Sony so the arrangement was a financial one.
With only their hardcore Japanese third parties to guarantee them sales, Sony is definitely not on the stable ground it once was.
I also estimate that because GTA and Rockstar have been so successful, that this is not a fad in passing and that their games will probably continue to outsell almost anything for a long time.
While I think Final Fantasy etc will slow down in sales and never be as successful as it once was.
So no matter how you look at the industry, the losing of Rockstar as an exclusive developer was probably a big blow to Sony.
And Sony can't compete with Nintendo anymore when it comes to the kid gamers market because they closed down alot of businesses, Nintendo basically has that market totally locked down.
So Sony is never going to be as successful as it once was, but it will still be successful, definitely won't slow down. -

Nah companies like that will always survive, as long as they have a foothold in multiple markets one can hold the other together. I honestly dont see a huge profit market for them in the ps3 field untill they can drop the manufacturing cost of the units themselves. I dont think the games will be able to make them profit. I doubt they'll get much profit from the games, Square-Enix strong sales of games will cause them to probably break even.
But Square-Enix now develops on multiple platforms, the 360 and the DS and of course the PSP. They can no longer consider themselves loyal to one platform, since all the newest ones, are easy to develop for any of their games.
One of these days Sony will just lower the price of everything but is still losing on the manufacturing, it costs way too much to make a PS3. They'll have to outsource to save that division. -
