Anybody tried selling iPod Nano Style from China?

Anybody tried selling iPod Nano Style from China?

Postby aznvcboi » 03/06/2009 02:32

Hi all,

I'm looking into iPod nano marketing but we all know they are hot products and very competitive in prices. Has anyone tried selling replica iPod nano from China?

Has anyone got complaints or legal problem?

Many sellers do get away with selling replicas, but there are also a lot of horror stories. SaleHoo does not support buying and selling replicas, since it is a criminal offence to do so. Companies like Apple are starting to come down like a ton of bricks on anyone flouting the law. Your merchandise can also get seized at Customs if officials do an inspection and realize it is not legit.
You can sell 'designer-inspired' items legally, as long as they don't make any trademark infringements. (No logos or brand names, and the item must not even be listed as an 'ipod' or 'nano' because these are trademarked terms).

Actually, Ipod copies-ones without the ipod logo and without stating in the listing that they are Ipods is a pretty hot item on eBay. These types are perfectly legal to sell on eBay.

The trick is not getting scammed on buying them wholesale. I have seen the 4gb ones sell for 16 bucks free shipping on eBay. Starting at .99 auction.

The MP4s are pretty hot too.

You will want to make sure you purchase them for under 10 each, the 4gb ones. At this price you will have to buy straight from the warehouse and probably at least 100 per order.

This would more than likely require a tip to Asia or a good buyer rep here in the states.

Less than $10 Fudjj?

We pay about $18 FOB direct and sell at £30. $10 you will struggle purely because the price of flash memory is on the up.

Geeeez, you gotta be quick around here, I'm getting involved in conversations without even being in it!

Perhaps you were referring to Planes, considering I only just get here and hadn't yet made any comment : )

No problem bevsey.

Several months ago, I saw about 5 sellers on eBay selling the 4gb ipods and mp4 players with .99 starting bid and free shipping. HAven't looked recently though.

None sold for more than 25$ with the low price of around 14-15 $

They were running 24 hour auctions with about 25 at a time and selling every single one of them.

Most sold in the high teens and the sellers were based in Asia. So my guess is they were Asians or ex pats cornering the market as they could get them the cheapest.

Actually, as I recall this, some of the ipods were selling for 8 and 9 bucks but most were in the mid to high teens.

Yeah the asian sellers seem to sell at ridiculously low prices, but like with anything if its your own country and ready to ship people will pay that little bit more.

iPod Shuffle look a likes are around $10.

Yes or someone with a good connection from personal contacts in Asia.

I know of one seller on eBay selling digital camcorders on eBay and making a bundle. He is based in the US and must have some deal in Asia as well. Surprisingly, the camcorders were getting some good reviews at other sites.
