Sounds like a great idea. I was just wondering and sorry if I missed it , but how do we all get our goods. Will a company like Sony do a bulk order then break it up for shipment or would it all arrive to one location to be broken up and reshipped?
I'm from Toowoomba QLD. I'm in, although I don't have much cash, as I'm just starting out. For me things like ps3 are to expensive yet. If anyone knows any americans who are willing to get region 4 dvd's and act as a drop shipper for us, that would be excellent.
Just be a bit wary where DVDs are concerned. There are a lot of Asian bootlegs out there (worldwide, I mean - not USA specifically - even in Aus).
If you've got an ABN you could get onto the Village Roadshow web site and post a request about becoming a customer (that's what I did, although I haven't completed the application yet). They don't have a specific part of the site - just put it in the contact us part. State that you are interested in becoming a trade customer. They will email you back, ask for your address and then send you out an application. I suggest Village Roadshow as a good starting point because they take into consideration that you're a start up business and may not have any other established business relationships yet. Most of the Aussie suppliers (not just in DVDs) won't deal with you unless you already have established business ties with at least two other companies in that industry. That's the wall that I've come up against - and why I'm now getting jewellery and other stuff from the US. But if you get Village Roadshow, then you've got at least one under your belt, and then the trick is to go to other distributors' sites and put out inquiries. If you then manage to get one that only requires one industry reference, then join that and you'll have two. And from there it will be plain sailing. But be aware that wholesale prices for DVDs are only a fraction below retail (according to most DVD sellers I know), so you have to factor in things like ebay listing fees, final selling fees and so forth to ensure that you're going to make a profit with this item. Keep your eyes open for ridiculously low priced hot sellers in the retail sector. I've managed to pick up a few and turn a profit that way, even though that won't get you a constant product line.
hi im from w.a. and would be interested in this too, but am just starting out and would only want a small order to begin with, and would be open to anything. Please let me know if I can join.
Hi Aussies
I am from Brisbane and am a new member. I operate a successful lighting business here and am looking to expand into different areas over the net. Has anything been done about this co-op yet? Please reply or send me an e-mail with any ideas if you are serious. ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members**
Another place for iPods would be to check out ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members**
Just put "similar to iPod" in the description and you will basically be okay. Don't bother using iPod in the title though as its just an MP3 player, not actual iPods. They are packaged with the same attributes as apple iPods though, so there would be few complaints. You could sell these continually in the apple iPod "Other MP3 Players" category without complaint. Additionally you could sell them on your own store front page and accept Bidpay which is easier and free for a payment option. ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members** You have to strategize what you are going to sell. For me at times, profit could be anywhere from $5 to $15 to $150 depending on how good the niche or product is at the time. But, I do not concern myself so much over the details for business. I look at what OTHER companies do "WRONG" (which I believe to be mountainous) and strive to do the exact opposite. Most companies for instance, have barely average customer service and below par customer skills alltogether and leave countless people scorned with only a care for their bottom line. This goes for many Chinese companies too or Chinese brokers/distributors!! Then of course there's the countless UK Companies which constantly rip people off. So, rather than worry about having 4389 next to our name in "feedback" we set ourselves apart from the pack by highly attentive service. We treat EVERY consumer just like we would treat ourselves regardless of what % is "made". Some sales may not make ANY profit, but in fact we speed those out the door anyway. Just in order to get a good response from the customer, and increase our feedback score. We do literally anything to just simply tailor the needs & results to the customer and give them wonderful service regardless of how it turns out. As other companies do not do, we also offer refunds - PERIOD - if there is any kind of issue within 7-8 days of transaction end time. In the end that's long term staying power as true service is very difficult to come by in this world and especially detailed service. And then as far as closeout costs go, we keep the overhead to be as low as physically possible by not adding any of the many extra features to our listings that are not needed. Bold, Underline, Highlighter, all of which are not needed for Bidville or eBay. With excellent descriptions or content, we then send hundreds of people to our store pages on automatic through traffic generating exchanges and other key areas. This becomes the main (and underlying reason) why nearly every single one of our products always sells on the first try. Then, we add Bidpay as a payment option to everything. This shall start being the norm for ALL "popular" products featured on our storefront too. Bidpay takes ANY credit card, is a MUCH better source than Paypal & can work in addition to/instead OF the hassle of them. And believe it or choose not to, the truth is the more payment options you offer someone to purchase the more sales you make. One of those hidden techniques they teach but never seem to want to give away is, variety + content= SALES divided by POPULARITY Where popularity will never mean what your level of reputation is or how many things you have sold, but rather how much TRAFFIC you send. Automated traffic is the most vital & possibly most untold key to generating as much income as you want from any business.(Bar None) Unfortunately many beaurocracies make it a un-needed burden, by requiring you to sign up for all sorts of "TAX ID" forms and other. I recommend NOT doing that, UNLESS you buy in large pallets, and will be doing so for some time because it will become a LARGE COST to get lisences where you are seen as a startup.
Other thing I wanted to mention is the "QUALITY" of products.
One thing you can really do to set yourself apart, is go after products that are of "EXCEPTIONAL" quality and are not like wholesalejoe's line of disposable glasses. Research everything about the product, test it out yourself and know your supplier like you know yourself for any questions. If its truly a good product, it will pass your high standards of quality and be that good. If it is NOT, you will not even want to sell it! Even if it is "GENUINE" for instance....If its "TRULY" a duplex Rolex watch or so and is genuine, but is just above average you should STILL not want to sell it. After all would you yourself buy such a product? Probably not and that's why Rolex has lost alot of money. On the other hand, if it seems exceptional but is using someone else's name such as Gucci or Rolex then you still wouldn't want to sell it. Its not genuine at all, you are merely peddling someone's bootleg without knowing it. There would be NO reason to sell any of those products above, and if you think about it would you as a consumer even buy those? Perhaps if it was not stated to be Gucci you would, but the fact they put the label on anyway and don't tell you should WARN you right away. There's after all, plenty of real GENUINE products out there for wholesale cost. Another great idea is to purchase it at that cost and have the RECEIPT, then whatever company puts their name on it, you have proof it is their brand by using the receipt. And from that point on, you truly could keep increasing your sales and your portfolio overnight. All you needed, was to think like a consumer and not buy anything you know someone wouldn't want. Likewise, refuse to do business with anything that seems shady or fishy as you yourself would never buy from them either as a customer. You know they just don't make the grade, and deserve to lose money.
Hi,
I live in the United States.I'm also interested.Keep me posted. Thanks
Count me in,
If we team together we will be able to have the capital to buy popular new items, (the iPhone for example) from a legit supplier in bulk, we should be able to get massive profits on them. I'm Open to any other good product suggestions.
