What do you think of selling e-books?

Postby abinternational » 28/07/2008 03:16

Hi,

I just received the newsletter about selling e-books recommended by Sale Hoo. Iam interested in the concept, has anyone here had a look and/or used
"John Thornbill's eBay power sellers package"?

If you have what are your thoughts on it?

I personally haven't, as I haven't ever sold any ebooks, however there are members here on the forum that seem to do quite nicely out of selling e books, so I can only suggest that you take a good look at the option to see if it suits your requirements.

I love selling e-books. But through clickbank, not at the usual places.

Selling e-books on your own is just another great part of ecommerce. If you have great sales pages and the traffic you can sell them on auto pilot. Granted I hold no illusions at the challenge that is.

When I say you need to generate alot of traffic I'm talking tens of thousands so its best to put your ebooks out front of your store. Front of your website is where mine get the results.

Here's a little something that might help you guys out with your e-book venture:

-How to Write an Ebook that Sells in 2009-

"You’ll see one theme come up again and again on Copyblogger. If you want to create real revenue with your blog, you need to have something worthwhile to sell. Most sites are disappointed by the nickels and dimes that come in from advertising. If your site gets massive amounts of traffic, it can work, but if not, you’ll want to find a much more profitable source of revenue..."

Yes. I have used the Powerseller package from John.

My advice would be to stay away. You have to put in a heck of alot of work to for very very little money. I just couldn't get it working.
Someone is always selling cheaper.

Interesting philosophy many of these eBooks and the like. Amazes me how many fall for them.

Think about it properly for a second. If you had found something that actually made you real money, would you sell it off for a few bucks or guard it with your life?

Like someone is actually going to say "here you go Al, here's all the answers to make you a million a year, just give me $5 for it" uummm

I have always related ebooks to scams.

Ebooks always seem to revolve around making money and how to make more of it and I have always been under the impression that if someone had a great way to make money they would be doing it not selling the idea.

If I were making a million per year would I sell an ebook to tell someone how? No I wouldnt tell a soul. I would milk it until it didn't make me a million anymore.

Or how about ebooks on how to make money on Google or with clickbank. Another ebook scam.

The only good thing ebooks did was get a lot of FB on eBay before they stopped digital delivery.

So if you want to make money with ebooks, sell get rich quick ideas. You will have to do a lot of deceiving but you might make a buck or two.

Hello Abinternational,

I too am also considering selling e-books. I checked out the subject and found various websites on the subject. Do know that "How to Make Money" is far from being the only ebooks out there. E-books cover many many subjects including romance novels. I myself have no interest in "How to make money" ebooks, I feel, like the other posters on here, they are just scams. I cannot recommend any particular website to trust, but if you want to check out the ones I have looked at, let me know.

Hi lee19m,

I'd have to agree with you, e-books are not just the how to get rich stuff we so often see on the net. There are so many categories or kinds from which you can still make a decent source of income with.

I've read through a few e-books, but never purchased any especially anything that promises wealth, stuff like these are kind of hard to believe in. :)

All the best to you!

Maybe I am just naive on this whole subject of e-books.

The only other ones people buy are novels to read on their hand held devices.

The problem I find with them is most of the info can be had for free on the internet.

What other e-books are there that people will buy?

I'm a very long way from being an expert on e-books, but if I were going to move into that market I think I would look at special interests. Areas where there is always a lot of interest in sourcing information.

Something like birthing, or caring for newly born bubs and that type of thing. It's an area that always has a lot of interest, and is a huge market!
