eBay is Such a Piece of Junk* editedI don't sell at eBay anymore, and honestly I try very hard to not even browse there aside from datamining. But I recently read an interesting article about some of the biggest heavy sellers on eBay, and I thought I'd go to their stores and see what kind of products they were offering, how they were presenting, customer service policies etc.
The problem is, according to the eBay search, none of the users exist! These eight sellers do a combined $26 million a year on eBay ... how much is that in fees to these jackasses? Needless to say, I was able to find all eight sellers easily using Google. What a joke. Frank
Once most sellers become huge. they move away from ebay. Especially the old school ebayers. Ebay is good if you can find dirt cheap items. But many find that other sites will fare better with thier products. I know many sellers with over 100k feedbacks that have left or are in the process of leaving due to ebays horrible fees.

That was me. My wife, our business partner and I were a team back in the 90s and some of the original powersellers ... $ 15,000 a month in sales back in 1998 (it's funny how huge that seemed back then!) I actually drew away not because of eBay but because of PayPal; but as I was doing product sourcing for Overstock.com when they were in the process of setting up their auction site I thought I'd go over there. It's a shame that Overstock Auctions has not taken off, but I think that the real future -- the way to really take competition to eBay -- is to go after all the niches that they have cut off. I currently own three small auction sites that cater to niches which eBay has either banned or heavily restricted. They don't do much mentionable volume but every time there's a bad press item on eBay the traffic jumps at all three.
Even setting aside eBay policy, it is amazing to me that it is all but impossible to find specific sellers, even when one of those sellers moves $8 million+ a year through eBay. Frank PS. Sorry if the original subject line offended.

In the last two years i have tried and tried to sell on ebay and haven't made much.
I hear from other people that Google checkout is very good and safe. Also i hear of a site, ibid i think its called. Anybody hear of this ?
Here's a startup operation targeting a popular niche on eBay ... in this case not one that's banned but one that is severely choked up. Interesting concept, applying social networking platform to e-commerce:

Yeah ebay really pissed me off last month. They send me a non compliance message warning me to work harder with my bidders on problems. I had over 800 sales and I had 3 negative fbs because the bidders never contacted me on a problem. And 6 neutral fbs. They tried to act like I wasnt working with my bidders when they had problems. I basically replied to them and told them to stuff it.
4,000 sales and 3 negs and 17 Neutrals in 4 years on that account. They can kiss my rear if they think I dont work with my bidders. Ebay is getting worse and soon they will kill themselves if they dont straighten out Jimmy
