Hi there everyone,
I just thought i'd share a little luck i've had. I bought a bunch of blaster boxes of Upper Deck Series 1 hockey cards for $24.95 + tx (cdn) and sold them on eBay for between $30-$80 (usd) per box. It was good for a bit and then there were too many people selling them. Fortunately I had already sold all mine. Now with Series 2 out it doesn't look as promising. Not as big an interest in that series on there.
Have a good one all and good luck!

how do you work out the percentage. There a formula for it but i forgot it, can you tell me. It's just for curiosity purposes.

With my ebay selling...
I bought nokia phone charges for $2 they sell on ebay for $10
A couple months ago i bought Nokia 5140 phones for $130, sold them for $220
I bought 2gb ipod nano for $200, sold for $260 and 4gb nano for $275, sold for $330

I'll be interesting to see the percentage of profit which is why i ask

The formula is:

(Sale Price - Cost) / Cost

Here are your numbers:

Phone chargers = 400% profit
Nokia 5140 = 69% profit
2gb Nano = 30% profit
4gb Nano = 20% profit

This of course doesn't include any eBay or PayPal fees.

Hey,
Probably not in the same league as you guys, but my first experience as a importer/seller, I made 300-400% mark up on the items I was selling!

I am still making these margins now on an accessory I am selling.

Cheers,
Tom

If you go and do a search on the Salehoo site, and search for handbags, you should find tons of links for bags...however, do not trust them all as being authentic. I tell you, it's very hard to find authentic bags ... What I normally do is email websites to see if they would sell wholesale, a lot of times they don't but sometimes they will.

It's just hard to find the REAL thing, and sell them on Ebay. They keep a watch out on fake items on Ebay. I know first hand! :) Good luck.

Market Niche

Post fblouis 21/09/2006 00:22

Has anyone come to a problem where they feel they could only sell one type of item? I've come to that. First of all, I am new to Salehoo. But, I am not new to online auctioning. But my problem is that I've always been used to selling consumer electronics (computers, mobile phones, etc.). I'm trying so hard to sell other items, but it seems like this is my niche. Any suggestions?

Where are you people finding iPods? I've looked for them for months and found nothing.

That friggin toaster was so unique im still kicking myself for not getting more. anyways, i do think there will always be a market for kitchen stuff. shoot i buy crap i dont even need but if its a deal on ebay im on it lol

Agreed. Also at the moment on products such as iPods, you have to put low prices because of all the competition and adding all the costs of shipping and hours spent picking the right site and putting up the listings you may only make $5-$15 per products, you would be better off working in an area where demand is high but supply is low.

with iPods the deman is extremely high but the supply is even higher.

Good luck in the kitchen area, Im sure there are millions of mothers browsing ebay for some good utensils :D

Well I have 2 stories.
My wife had asked me to purchase a certain movie for her. This movie was hard to aquire at a good price because it was a popular title. They were selling for about 18 a piece. Well By accident i mispelled the title of the movie and came across a lone listing of a seller trying to clear out 30 movies of that same title. He had buy it now for 6.99 and I said what the heck. I bought all the copies. the total was like $235.00 with shipping. I waited untill october since it was a OOP kids horror movie and then listed them 1 by 1 so they would end about 10 hours apart. I know they sold for 18 a piece from other sellers that had low feedback ratings. Mine is in the upper 500+ range and im a powerseller. .... Well I created a very nice design page for the ad and started the bids at a penny. Well the first one sold for $59.00 then I dropped all the other movies for around $45.00 a piece after that. We profited about $1,100 bucks off those movies in 6 days.
Another story we have was a few months back before the first. We had aquired some AS SEEN ON TV SAUNA Belts. We were buying them for about 50 bucks a case from a wholesaler in our state. These items retail for around $59.99 and up with 20 belts per case. Honestly folks these belts are absolutely crap items. a 4th of them dont work at all. Well anyways we sold about 6 cases on ebay. Most of them for around $17.99 a unit and we made some nice profit on them. We handled a few returns because these things were crap and broke easily. But then we got a message from a guy in canada. That had apparently bought 3 of them from us at 1 time for his family. He owned a small chain of stores in toronto. I think he said he had 8 stores. Well he wanted to know If I could get him 32 cases of them.

I told him yes even though I thought he was full of crap and just playin with us. So i sent him a quote of $4650 dollars for all of them and a quote for shipping by weight. UPS.. He ended up sending me a payment of $5125 . When I went back to the wholesaler to purchase the cases. I brought a uhaul to pick them up lol. they weighed in at 25 pounds per case and were fairly large.

When I popped into the wholesalers warehouse to order them the lady asked me what I was going to do with them. I told her the truth and told her I had to ship them to toronto. She said well we have another warehouse in toronto and they have the same product your looking for. And to top it off they offered to deliver them to the guy for me at no additional charge. I was totally blown away on the luck I was having. I paid around $1750 for the 32 cases of product and kept the rest. Making over $3,300 in profit and all for doing pretty much nothing.

Well those are my 2 big stories. Im still selling many movies and thats about it for now. Im working on a few other ideas but im doing about average stuff now. Hope you like the stories.

But I was selling at a loss....so went to oztion ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members**

& have finally got a bid on 2 items but all the new stuff people reckon is too much but I can't go lower cause I will loose again.

So how do people buy stuff then sell at a profit ?
how do i bring my ebay feedback over to other auction site?

Where do Aussies get a good deal?

I am interested in other peoples constructive ideas.

Dear friends!

Online forward auctions are an ideal way to get the best price for capital equipment, materials and services you want to sell, such as when you need to liquidate excess inventory.

How do online forward auctions work? You initiate the auction by letting buyers know what products or services you have available. Buyers compete against each other in Web-based, real-time auctions, driving up demand and price as they bid.
