How Successful Have You Been? Show Off To Others!Apolagies if this is in the wrong section, but I couldnt see another area that would suit it better.
I thought it would be fun to hear about peoples experiences in the wholesale and reselling business. Your best and worst experiences, what products did you sell and so forth. Ok I'll get this started. I bought two pallettes of over stock from Superdrug. To anyone outside the UK superdrug are a fairly massive chain selling cheapish body care, cleaning, styling products. They expanded their product range and tried to shift some really random items and it failed miserably. This left them with 2 warehouses full of various items they had to sell of quickly. So luckily I knew someone whose dad was quite high up in Superdurg. Went along to their warehouses and picked out 2 pallettes. As I was tucking into the stock I soon realised Id just got the bargain of the century. I paid £200 and found for example - 14 Recordable DVD players, which sold at £129.99 in their stores, 14 Popcorn Makers, 10 Ultrasonic cleaners, 20 Glimmer lights, 16 DAB Radio/Cassette/CD Players and a whole host of other really saleable items. Ive made an absolute killing on these items. My only regret is I didnt have the room to buy more pallettes. Some guy bought 200 pallettes for £2000. I bet he is laughing all the way to the bank. Worst experience is probably now as my saleable stock is drying up and im struggling to find items I want to re-sell and can make any real money from. Ive decided to try and set up a business, which helps small-medium businesses shift their own sticky stock. I hope to start getting this advertised fairly shortly! Hopefully it'll get some interest to keep the pennys coming in! So thats me! Anyone else have some good and bad experiences to share and show off their re-selling might :D
i have tons but here is one
late night...watching the Home Shopping Network......see this cute looking toaster thing that looks like a jukebox. Im like wow never seen that b4. it was selling for 69.00 i think i cant recall anyways, they sold out duringt the show. a month later i go to the HSN outlet guess what they have...the toasters for 9.99. I buy 3 of them put them on ebay for 29.99-the ended up selling for 39-50.00 they all sold. I go back to HSN outlet only 2 left i get them and sell them. Now im addicted to these little toasters. Im getting emails everyday from these people asking if i have more. I go back to the store come to find out they have 9 i only have 40.00 on me BOY WAS I KICKING MYSELF IN THE ASS FOR NOT HAVING MY CREDIT CARD ON ME, some old lady scoops them up for "christmas gifts" that was the easiest money i have ever made!! and yes to this day i still go and see if they have more lol
I wish I could find a "cash cow" like that... or in this case... a "cash toaster"
I'm really new to all of this, so I'm still waiting for something good to happen. I'm on the verge of making my first auction sale... its not for much, and its for 4 prs of my kid's barely worn jeans, but in the long run... the feedback is what makes it worth it. I'm starting a business with 0 feedback on ebay. So I need to build some credibility up first. Hopefully as my feedback grows, so will my sales. Then maybe I'll have the money to buy bulk and have a good story to share. Bianca
Mixed Bag of Tricks website coming soon...
Well, I have to tell you, the best profit I made on Ebay, I paid $220 for a designer bag and sold it for $650. Just recently!!!!!! 8)
It can be DONE!! :) :) And that's not all - I've paid like $6.99 for little childrens outfits and sold them for $40 and $50 each!! That was around Christmas time!! So, if you get the right thing, it will WORK. :) Michelle aka MsLilly

I dont suppose you thought about contacting the manufacturer of the toasters directly? You could maybe find out if they still make them and order directly from them if they'll deal with you.
I dont know how feasible that is mind
i wish i had the time to do all that. its so much easier to just go to the store sometimes...and 9.99 couldnt be beat. lol
i'll keep it in mind tho, usually they want me to buy tons of it and the $$$ just isnt here yet.
Yeah, I know what you mean - Its hard to get the finances together for something like that unless you know for sure the sales are there. Obviously you dont want 1000 toasters sitting around your house
I think there is a really big market for houseware/kitchen items though. Im investing most of my time in researching wholesalers in that section at the moment.
im stayinw away from ipods (electronics)etc for now...way to many people selling all the same stuff. That friggin toaster was so unique im still kicking myself for not getting more. anyways, i do think there will always be a market for kitchen stuff. shoot i buy crap i dont even need but if its a deal on ebay im on it lol
Hi Members,
We have setup this blog (link below) where you can share your success stories with everyone! It would be great if you could comment on any success story you may have had in here as we thought it would be a good place for people to post them so others can see. If you have a website feel free to include a link to it at the bottom (or your ebay username link) and you should see some traffic come your way as a little bonus on top ;) ** Link Removed: Only Available to Registered Members** Let us know what you think? how do you work out the percentage. There a formula for it but i forgot it, can you tell me. It's just for curiosity purposes. With my ebay selling... I bought nokia phone charges for $2 they sell on ebay for $10 A couple months ago i bought Nokia 5140 phones for $130, sold them for $220 I bought 2gb ipod nano for $200, sold for $260 and 4gb nano for $275, sold for $330 I'll be interesting to see the percentage of profit which is why i ask
I've had alot of luck with designer handbags. I purchased a designer handbag from another online auction for $75.00 and turned around and sold it on ebay for $550.00. Wish every sale could go that way!
