Back orders occur when a drop ship wholesaler runs out of a product and is unable to fulfill an order until new stock arrives. Back orders are a fairly common occurrence when using wholesale drop shippers. As the retailer, you can alleviate backorders by emailing the supplier regularly to check on stock levels; using the supplier’s real-time inventory data feed (if provided); or keeping a couple of items on hand for emergencies.
