You might be amazed to learn what our niche product is for this week, I know I was when I saw the numbers in the Research Lab!

It was surprising to see that our day to day calculator is such a profitable niche. You can see for yourself in the Research Report Summary from our Research Lab.

Let’s take a closer look at how the humble calculator could turn you some big profits!

Sell-through Rate: Will you make enough sales?

As you can see the sell-through rate of calculators as of September is 59.15%, which is well over our target rate of 50-60%.

By looking at the sell-through rate you can see that this product is definitely sellable on the market.

Median End Price: Do the number work?

Depending on the type of calculator you wish to sell, the cheapest ones I saw from our suppliers on SaleHoo can be bought at less than $2 so based on the median end price you certainly have a lot of room for profit, seeing as the median end price for eBay listings selling calculators is $47.93.

Total Listings, Total Bids and Total Sellers: Scoping out the competition

With the help of our Research Lab we can determine if the product we want to sell is actually in demand or not and if we can compete favorably against other sellers.

Looking at the total bids as of September, calculators are definitely in demand on eBay - with the total bids reaching as much as 151,368. Competition is not that bad either with 34,464 listings by 25,710 sellers. Although there are so many sellers competing with each other there are more than enough bids on the market for calculators thus making this product a promising niche!

Data Trends: What are other sellers earning?

Using the graphs on our Research Lab you can check further on the number of items sold, total revenue and average revenue even before you invest on a product.

As shown in the graph below the total revenue is amazingly high, all are five figure amounts. The highest total revenue for September amounted to $83,885.86 while the lowest is $33,153.99 which is still relatively high compared to most products!

The dollar figures alone definitely show you that this product is indeed selling quite well.

Going beyond eBay: Are web users searching Google for calculators?

Since there are a great number of buyers for calculators outside of eBay, it is important to see just how much traffic you might be able to direct towards your store or eBay listing. One of the most convenient tools to use for keyword research is Traffic Travis. You can download your free SEO software by visiting www.traffictravis.com

With the help of Traffic Travis I learned that there is a significant amount of people around the world and even in the US alone, searching for calculators.

What do these numbers mean?

In a month, there are 1,830,000 searches globally and another 1,000,000 searches in the US which means that people are definitely searching for calculators!

But remember that searches made on Google may not necessarily convert to actual sales. Many of these searches may actually have been done by other sellers looking into how they themselves can direct traffic to their own sites or listings.
