In the recent years there has been a constant debate over which is the better choice: cloth diapers or disposable diapers? Ultimately the decision is yours. But you might be surprised to find out that, with all the hype of being eco-friendly or going organic, many (rather, the majority of) parents still opt for disposable diapers! Why?

Disposable diapers remain appealing to most parents because they are more convenient than cloth diapers. When the diaper gets soiled, all you do is roll it up and throw it away and you're done! Cloth diapers involve a lot more cleaning — washing, drying and prepping the diapers themselves, not to mention cleaning all potential little extra bits, depending on the diapers you choose.

Considering that there are 4 million babies born in the U.S. alone each year (that's almost 11,000 babies per day!), it's no surprise that diapers are a hot commodity. Stick around as we determine if it's time to start stocking and selling disposable diapers, using our very own Market Research Lab.

Types of disposable diapers

There are numerous brands for disposable diapers, each available in many sizes with different features. Below are the top 5 brands of disposable diapers to consider.

Huggies

Owned by Kimberly-Clark, the Huggies brand is available ins over 150 countries worldwide. With this brand, you can get diapers that are especially designed for nighttime wear, potty training, and swimming, as well as day-to-day wear.

Pampers

Owned by Procter and Gamble, Pampers offers hypoallergenic Swaddlers for newborns, which include an umbilical cord notch, and Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers for older babies, among other diaper designs.

Luvs

Also owned by Procter and Gamble, Luvs is marketed as a budget-friendly alternative to the premium brands without sacrificing quality. Luvs diapers feature leak guards with a large absorbency area to keep babies dry overnight.

Earth's Best

The perfect choice for eco-conscious parents, Earth's Best diapers are chlorine-free and made using corn and wheat starch for absorbency. These diapers are available in 7 sizes, all of which feature breathable sizes.

Up & Up

Up & Up diapers offer great value for your money, offering what most high-end diaper brands do at a cost-effective price. These diapers are free of perfumes, latex, and chlorine. Available in an overnight variety as well.

Why sell disposable diapers?

Performance on eBay and Amazon

The data provided by the Market Research Lab gives us a better picture as to the market viability of this week's niche. Let's take a closer look at sell rates, average price, and market competition.

High sell rate

It's ideal to look for products with a sell rate of at least 50%, so can be sure your items will actually move when you list them. The disposable diapers the lab found for us have a solid sell rate, ranging from 65% to 71%.

Average selling price

Average selling price is going to depend on the overall quantity of diapers as well as the brand. Here we have a 112-count pack of Huggies with an average sale price of $29, and a 216-count pack of Pampers for an average price of $54. Regardless, to stay competitive, you will need to get your stock in bulk! Just remember that the higher your order volume, is the lower the unit cost and the bigger your profit margin is.

Low competition

Despite how many parents are out there, the market has a low competition rating, which means there aren't many other sellers who have caught onto this niche! With the product titles and descriptions written correctly with the right keywords, your listings will have a higher chance of getting noticed, and you have a higher chance of making a sale!

General demand

Why are the right keywords so important when selling online? Your keywords bring you potential customers and make your listings visible to internet searchers. So if you want traffic and customers, be sure to use the right keywords in your listing title and descriptions. To help us determine which keywords to target, we use our very own AffiloTools Keyword Research. Below are the top-ranking keywords for our niche this week.

You can clearly see that many people are interested in Pampers diapers, with a search count of 135,000 for just "pampers." Take note that "pampers swaddlers" comes in second, with variations of the keyword filling out the results. Beyond that, you'll see "huggies little movers" and "huggies newborn diapers" are also popular searches. In all, this lines up pretty well with the data from the Market Research Lab

Extra bonuses

You can bundle these diaper packs to help entice customers, offering promotions such as "buy 5 packs, get 1 free." Customers are always on the hunt for freebies, so that alone will already give a potential customer a reason to click on your listing link.

Summary

The convenience disposable diapers give parents is the main selling factor, so you can use this in your listing descriptions to further convince shoppers to buy your products. Also, use the high-ranking keywords we found for you using AffiloTools Keyword Research Tool as a guide to stocking the most popular types of diapers. We have provided you with more than enough data to make this niche a success in our stores — so now it's your turn to take action!

Do you have a drop shipper who requires no minimum order amount? 2 of the 3 you listed don't have drop shipping and the one you did requires an order of $7500.
  • pugnivom 28th of February
Hi! Thanks for this report! Do you have any suppliers that would dropship without a high minimum order?
  • Erika Gilchrist 9th of August
Above it states, "we have our very own Premium SaleHoo Stores..." but the link doesn't direct you to a SaleHoo Store.

Hi Ken! Which suppliers offer dropshipping changes over time, so this may not be 100% accurate anymore. If you're having trouble locating a supplier that meets your needs, I recommend contacting our support team through https://www.salehoo.com/support
