Generally, your profit margin won't be as high when you use dropshippers compared to when you source your products directly from a wholesaler. The following guides should help you make the best out of dropshipping -

Hope this helps, please let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Hi cato88,

Richelle is right, you can only make higher profit margins if you source your products in large quantities, and then handle the shipping process yourself. With drop shipping, though, you can easily perform your market research and identify items that sell steadily, which are in demand and then you can decide on a niche.

It will help if you communicate with your chosen drop shippers and seek their advice on sourcing their products at a better value. Suppliers differ, but there are some who may be willing to let you buy in volume, keep the stock for you and deliver as your orders come in. This assures them of a good minimum order from you and pricing will be much better than single item drop shipping. :)

We wish you the best. :)

On behalf of Irene, you're welcome catto88 :) We are always happy to help out our members!

As a beginner you might also want to explore your market by selling a few things from around you home, you know like an old sweater in the back of your closet or a pretty little black dress that doesn't fit anymore.

Selling things from around your home is a great way to find niche markets and hot products, with little to no investment/risk since you would be basically paying for the listing fees and not the item itself.

There are two excellent reasons for starting out in this way:

(1) If you are selling on eBay or other auction sites feedback is a key thing and are hugely important for most buyers and sellers too.

(2) You also get to sell a range of products with no capital needed and get to see what works well. The results may surprise you!

Nothing beats knowledge gained from experience and selling stuff from around the home is the best way to get it without any risk.

Some product ideas that may do good in the market are:

* Clothing: accessories, plus sizes, maternity, night wear.
* Kitchen: recipes, knife sets, toasters, microwaves
* Beauty: sunscreen, insect repellent, cosmetic & toiletry bags, men's grooming
* Homewares: towels, sheets, rugs, throws, cushions, vases, mirrors
* Special occasion: wedding supplies, party supplies, mother-of-the bride outfits, bridal shoes, birthday cards
* Garden : lawn mowers, gardening tool sets, composter
* Hobbies and Interests

And I suggest that if you are planning to sell within UK, is to use UK based dropshippers, just to put overseas shipping out of the equation, and make your initial dropshipping experience less complicated. :)

From our directory, here are UK based drop shippers who have earned good reviews -
