Shipping dilemma

I have a supplier that has just the products I'm looking for. However, they cannot give me their shipping costs in advance. It's based on destination location and weight. How am I supposed to calculate my costs or the price I can list the item for on the website without knowing the shipping costs in advance? I've checked my competitors and they offer free shipping on a lot of their products.
The profit margin is small, I know that, I just don't want to lose my shirt either. I have a couple of other suppliers that do provide their shipping costs in advance, so why can't this one do it? How should I handle this?
Shipping is driving me crazy and delaying the opening of my store because I'm not sure what to charge.
Also, would it just be better if I opened a business account with Fedex, and UPS and let the shipping be calculated at check out?

Thank you
