I joined Salehoo after hearing about it on thefastlaneforum.com and reading some positive reviews. I was interested in the market assessment tool and the approved supplier directory.
It seems the market assessment tool is ok for general products. They recommend to type in specific products, but it struggles with long loading times and sometimes no results (possibly issues with my computer though it seems to be running fine). I also question some of the accuracy. Ironically the research tool suggests good products for resale that Salehoo usually has no suppliers for.
The wholesale directory is good for finding reliable suppliers, but the majority are US suppliers and there are virtually no margins. It would be great to have more approved suppliers from other countries, where you can actually get decent margins and not have to worry about scammers.
The tutorial information is useful, but most of the information can easily be found online. The forum is active, but there are free forums/blogs for ecommerce online.
In my opinion, you have to do the research yourself. Find suppliers through sites like alibaba.com, globalsources.com, aliexpress.com, made-in-china.com, and liquidation.com (to name a few). They have foreign suppliers where you can find decent margins but beware of scammers.
I was hoping to find reliable suppliers faster, but I'm just going to have to be careful and research potential suppliers.
