Okay, so I'm new to this but I feel very, very confident about my chances of being profitable. Thinking outside the box....not relying 100% on ebay, using local options, getting into sub-niches, etc. However, I have one big concern....

I have recently signed up for about 10 different dropshippers. All of them have different merchandise and I wanted to just get the application processes out of the way. The problem, or at least what I think is a problem, is that I don't 'feel' like im getting some great deal or special treatment when I register. If anything, I feel like I'm just like any other 'consumer' rather than a 'wholesaler' or 'reseller' -- if that makes any sense. To me, it just seems too easy to sign up and start selling wholesale goods at retail prices.

Perhaps I am missing something or am doing something wrong. Could it be that I am actually signing up for a 'consumer' account rather than a 'dropshipper/wholesaler' account -- or is it just all in my head?

For instance, is there a 'special' way to contact these website owners and dealers to get those 'low, low' rates, such as via email and telephone....or is signing up for an account, placing orders, and then rinse & repeat the normal way to do things as a dropshipper.

Alright...I hope this has made some sense and any feedback you can send my way is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

P.S. Sorry about the quotes...I know I overuse them, but I like to emphasize, sue me.

Unfortunately, in many cases, you won't get great prices in dropshipping. Dropshippers may even charge the same as retail pricing. That is the story with this type of business.

By the way, I answered your PM.

Yep, if you are waiting for a drop ship company to roll out the red carpet you'll be waiting a long time.

OK, so some may well treat you a little better than others, but at the end of the day you are not buying wholesale, despite what you believe.

Drop ship prices do not equal wholesale prices, there is a HUGE difference, regardless of what they call themselves. These guys have hundreds, if not thousands of clients listing their products, so to them you are just another consumer.

At the end of the day you shouldn't be so concerned about being treated like a members of the family, with drop shipping it's more important that you find a supplier who is reliable and cost effective, because those are the two key issues you will need to find if you are going to succeed in that game.
