Hi Richelle

Thank you for your best wishes, and for the info.

When I get a moment I will take a look at the Addoway site, (I have heard of this site before, but I have never looked at it).

I am stupidly busy at the minute trying to get numerous things to come together, but hopefully it will all be worth it in the long run.

Ah, well - tea break over and back to the grindstone.

Speak to everyone soon hopefully - and keep up the good work - Salehoo "Rocks".

Mel

Im not 100% percent sure what I am looking for, I have been doing well reselling for the last year, the funny thing is I understand where the comments and advice to stay away from paypal and ebay are coming from. I am a top rated powerseller and do a fair amount of sales, to make any money with the ebay-paypal setup you have to really be able to purchase items dirt cheap. I might honesly be on this site more for the fourms to see what others are doing, and how things are working for them. I dont expect there to be wholesalers on this site giving me items dirt cheap to list on ebay. Would be nice, but dont expect it.

Hi dypattinc,

One of the most basic tip to is start selling things from your home and you are bound to discover a niche! But if you want to take your research a higher, you might want to start using our Link hidden: Login to view! To help you navigate through the different tools this Link hidden: Login to view may help and if you need more reading materials to help you optimize your use of the SRL you may also refer to this newly added guide - Link hidden: Login to view

Also, every Monday we have a blog, Monday Market of the Week to feature niche products that we find using the SRL.

Hope this helps the ball rolling :)

Hi my fellow forum members. Im new to droppshipping, but i already decide to go for perfume as it might be a great choice. My question is then, who are the best droppshippers overall when it comes to perfume? and do u think smellybody.com is a good domain name?:)

Greetings from Norway.

Hi and welcome to SaleHoo, Kenny :)

Personally, I am not to fond of your domain name, smellybody.com. Smelly usually connotes something that doesn't smell good so it does not seem appropriate for a site selling top of the line perfumes.

Here are some terms that mean smells good - Link hidden: Login to view

Here are a few dropshippers that might have what you need -

Hi, I am new to salehoo and I honestly have no clue where to begin. I joined this site in order to find a way to make money considering I am recently unemployed and my financial status is horrible. I read the above post but I honestly have no start up money. I spent most of it signing up for salehoo with the misleading that I could drop ship with no money. I have searched for hours yesterday looking for sites to do drop shipping with little to no money, but most of them either did not drop ship or they wanted a huge sign up fee or wholesale purchase that was out of my price range.

I am getting really frustrated and have not posted a single thing yet. My goal was to start out by drop shipping to make some income and then eventually move on to opening a store and buying wholesale but again I have no money.

If anyone has any expertise or insight please help. I'm a unemployed mom at her wits end!

Hi CurlyBeez,

Welcome to the site! Nice to have you with us :)

You can start out by selling things from around your home, many new sellers start out this way. Why?

- No capital needed, since you already have the things in your own home.
- Great way to build your feedback, if you're selling on sites like eBay, Addoway and Bonanza good feedback scores are really important in bringing in more customers!
- Gives you the opportunity to experiment - you can try selling various products with little to no risk at all.

We do have dropshippers that do not require any membership fees and will allow you to post/sell their products. Some may ask you to register (for free) just so you have an account as their reseller.

May I ask what type of products you are interested in and we'll do our best to help you locate suitable dropshippers!

Hope this helps, talk soon :)

Hi,

I just wanted to say hi! I actually signed up quite some time ago but never really used this site till now. I am already selling items from home on eBay and now wish to branch out to a fully fledged side business.

I am currently researching a few niches but wanted to ask what would be possible good niches in today's uncertain climate? Business is very risky these days so I want to take a calculated risk.

Thanks!

Hi ikki,

Welcome to the forums! Glad you finally decided to join us here :)

The thing about niches is it is also in a way location or market specific so what may be a niche in end may not necessarily turn out that way in your end. I suggest taking our Link hidden: Login to view for a spin! I actually use it myself to help me search for niches to feature on our weekly Monday Market of Week blogs which we post every Monday :) You might want to check them out for a few ideas! Here's our latest featured niche, Link hidden: Login to view

You might want to pay more attention to things like the latest trends, it could be a movie, a piece of clothing (seasonal items), a toy or virtually anything that is being mentioned repeated in various types of media (radio, tv, newspapers, magazines, etc). This might just be a clue to a great niche!

Also, your own shopping/wish list and even that of your friends/neighbors may give you vital clues as to what may be great items to sell.. Oftentimes you'll be surprised to realize that what you want to buy is also what many others want to buy for themselves.

Hope this helps you find the niche you are looking for!

Happy hunting :)

Hi and welcome to SaleHoo schwartz :)

What sells well varies greatly on your location and target market, so thorough research is highly ideal.

Finding a product with a high profit margin usually means finding a niche market.

Here are some products we have found to have good profit margins:

- Clothing
- Skin care (e.g. anti-ageing & acne treatment)
- Vacation-related items (swimsuits, crocs, sunblock)
- Homewares (towels, sheets)
- Accessories for electronics
- Crafts & hobby items
- Sporting goods
- Computers & computer parts
- Auto & motorbike
- Unique items/collectibles

However, bear in mind that we give out this list to anyone who asks! It is always most profitable to come up with your own niche market.

One of the best ways of doing this is just by selling some stuff from around the house that you no longer need any more. In the process, you will often stumble across items that sell really well that you would never have otherwise picked!

Cheers!

Welcome Alfonso,

The first thing we suggest you do is decide what type of products you want to sell. Generally it's best to start selling something you are interested in because you are going to be spending a LOT of time thinking about it! Do you love fashion or movies? Perhaps you feel excited about the thought of new gadgets and technology? It's likely that there are plenty of other people who also share your interest - giving you an instant audience for your product. One idea is to jot down your interests and then make a list of products that are related to these interests (we recommend staying away from electronics to begin with as warranty issues can be complicated to manage).

Once you've thought of a couple of ideas, it's time to start researching suppliers. This is where SaleHoo comes in. Use the search box to look for the product(s) you want to sell. When you've found some suppliers who fit the bill, send them an email asking what the best possible price is that they can give you for the products you wish to buy. A small tip for you: if you buy 20+ units at a time, you should be able to negotiate a better deal. It's also a good idea to contact more than 1 supplier before you start buying to compare prices.

Also, if you have please do download your ebooks by visiting our Link hidden: Login to view section.

All the best!

Pretty difficult going up against your own supplier, you really should be trying to source another supplier as your initial approach, someone who isn't selling against you. This is an issue with Drop Shipping of course, not all Drop Ship suppliers will sell against you, but a lot will, usually under a different trading to what they supply with.

It's a problem that most wholesale buyers don't have to contend with.

One option you might try if you stick with them is try and create a Point Of Difference between you and them. May bundle some products at better prices that they sell them for individually, look at different options like that.

Welcome to SaleHoo, adinady :)

You might try selling on another auction site other than eBay – there are heaps to choose from and profit margins are usually better.

Or find a niche market with few competitors – collectibles and one-off items have amazing profit margins, even on eBay.

Also, you can try checking with your supplier if there are products which they don't sell directly on ebay. Some suppliers are like that although they sell directly on ebay they limit the type of items they sell to give way to their resellers.

All the best!

Hello all,

I am a newbie to the online business world. I currently am in the process of starting up a women's apparel online store and have a few questions. I wanted to know what does the average start up fee for a small online clothing store go for, in terms of inventory. I want to check out wholesalers but I am really interested in the drop shipping idea.

Hi KS and welcome to SaleHoo,

I'm not sure there is really an average start up figure, everyone works to their own budget constraints. One are I would suggest you look closely at is liquidations, loads of last years fashion can be sourced through these avenues quite cheaply.

www.viatrading.com would be one I would recommend. We also have Titan Liquidation and Topper International as members here who may well to be able to assist with these types of loads as well.

Cheers

Great thank you I will definitely check them out. Also how should I approach wholesalers in terms of drop shipping as a starting out business?

OK, Liquidators will not Drop Ship under any circumstance, you would have to talk to them in regards to what size of order they require, but some of them will sell by the box, not just a pallet or gaylord.

Genuine wholesalers usually won't Drop Shop either, of course a wholesale price is based on volume sold. So in essence the more you buy, the cheaper your per item price.

That doesn't mean that you shouldn't ask them if they do Drop Ship or not, never hurts to ask the question!

Drop Shippers like to call themselves Wholesalers these days, it's one of those things that get my hackles up lol. The difference between Drop Shipping and Wholesale are like night and day, but the term Wholesale sounds good so many use it as a marketing tool more than anything.

Very easy to approach Drop Shippers to sell their products, it's more finding the right drop shipper that suits you. Some will charge a membership fee, some may have shocking customer service (not what you want), so it's just as important to research your supplier as it is to research your market.

Remember, when it comes to drop shipping, you don't have a lot of control. So you're relying on them to make you look good!

:)

Hi everyone. I am new also and really baffled with where to begin, I have done extensive research but it's easier putting it into words than putting it into action! I am from australia and i am wondering should i buy and sell to australia or the US as there is a broader and larger online market. Would shipping, banking, refunds etc be too difficult to maintain from another country? PHEW! I am interested in art and craft. scrapbooking particularly and want to only stick to one distributor if i can. Is sourcing from multiple distributors costly due to postage from different states if a customer orders from several in one transaction? Id appreciate any tips or opinions, thank you :)

Hi cryseee and welcome aboard the good ship Salehoo : )

Most of your questions really come down to your personal preference really. Should you only sell in Australia or sell into the US market as well? I could only suggest that you give that one careful consideration before deciding really.

In regards to Drop Ship suppliers, the chances are you would be dealing with international businesses there, so you really want to make sure you are dealing with excellent customer service, because when you have a problem, you will be relying on them sorting it out for you, so you need to have the confidence in the business to know they are going to do the right thing by you and your customers.

In regards to the cost of sourcing from multiple suppliers. Of course each will have their own pricing, their own shipping costs and shipping times, but that's up to you to keep your customers fully informed as to the conditions of trade on a per item basis. So they will know the cost to purchase, the cost to ship and the shipping time.

If you ensure you cover each item informatively, there shouldn't be an issue in dealing with as as many suppliers as you are comfortable with.

Cheers

Hello and welcome pretre :)

You can source your products locally we have a number of reliable suppliers based in the UK offering a wide variety of products for you to choose from.

I think this is where research will also play a big role! You will need to do extra research to be able to find a product that can be sourced cheaply (abroad) and has big market in the UK. Thus maximizing your profit margins.

Another approach you can take is using dropshippers for your business. With dropshipping the burden of taxation and import duties will no longer be yours but that of your customers. So if you do dropship items from other countries it is always best to indicate in your listing that the item will be coming in from another country, just so your customer knows what to expect.

Hope this helps :)
